#8: The Starlight Lounge
The Starlight Lounge is better than Ben's Bar, but that's not saying much. There are two distinct differences, however: the beer is cold, and the seats are comfortable. The waitress on duty is very lovely and has a 10,000-watt smile that can't be beat. Air conditioning seems to be optional, and by "optional" we mean that it never seems to get turned on. Still, the bar is cool enough so that you can while away an hour or so and not feel any urge to leave, even when arguments between the other patrons escalate to the knife-fight stage. The noise level is low (we like that) and conversation is kept politely hushed. This might be because they were discussing upcoming mob hits and didn't want to be overheard. Bonus: free roasted peanuts in unlimited quantities.
