Morning all!

Had a lot of fun with good friends last night.  They cooked Persian rice (with the crispy tadiq crust), cranberry maple chicken and I supplied 2 frozen containers of Lo hon jai (vegetarian Monk's Feast) made by my aunts.  Had fried neen goh for dessert.  Had a great time comparing foods and New Years traditions from around the world- our families came from China, Iran, Germany, England and St Lucia.

Good morning Miss Lil

I don't know what most of those delectables are, but they sure sound interesting.  Can you describe what a tadig crust is....and also neen goh ?

Lil Me

Tadiq is a crunchy crust on rice.  I really think you and Sawdust would love it.

The neen goh is a thick (brown sugar and rice flour) solid pudding that is sliced and fried.  It's a bit difficult to describe because the consistency is unlike anything else.

That sounds really good.  We will definitely try it.  Amazing the billions of ways to do rice.

The consistency of your pudding sounds almost like polenta.

Lil Me

Exactly, P.C.  That's it!  Polenta but without the "bits" because it is made with rice flour, not rice.
