You do? I never heard them. The only sounds I heard were the lovely sounds of fog horns and the sound of the day train which all give off calm lovely imagery. Freaking sirens only give off the feeling of war, destruction, ultimate doom. I remember in preschool and kindergarten still doing nuclear drills. Then they stopped it after the Soviet Union fell apart. Although the area still does its weekly patrols of National Guard fly overs at full speed and then the war sirens every month for 5 minutes.

I think the sound is so revolting and frightening because it reduces us to recognize our own mortality.

I can't imagine what my grandmother from Europe feels when she hears those sirens in Florida.

Yup....we does.  All I know, is they give me the creeps.

For me its the fading part of the siren when they're turning it off that's the worst. Then here 2 or 3 go off at the same time so its not just one blaring sound but like a chorus.

Evening!  Sunny at last!!!!

Got stuck in traffic this afternoon on south Granville.  Somebody important in town?  Vancouver motorcycle cops stopped traffic in both directions for a motorcade going downtown- police motorcycle escort front and back, fancy black sedan with WA plates, followed by a white pickup WA plates and an armoured Seattle Police Dept bus.

 Homemade pizza for dinner.
 Wine and cider.

Mmmmm...homemade pizza.  [img style="CURSOR: pointer" onclick=url(this.src); src="http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/more/bigs/c032.gif[/img]

I wonder what that was all about.  Maybe there will be something on the news tonight ?  I hope so.....dangling stories occupy far too much of my mind....and...well, I really can't afford the space it takes.

Oh wow, what a cute bunny wabbit.

I think we're heading off to catch  a movie today. Either Indiana Jones or Prince Caspian. Should be good. We need a bit of time alone from the kiddies.

haha yeah dodged a bullet. I went job hunting today (which is a pointless exercise at this point, nobody hires for summer work anymore) so I'm down to farm work applications. Surprisingly, they don't need any workers either. oh well.

Thinking about driving out to this area tomorrow:

I love this area, I know all the back roads. (or at least I did) wine country.

Add: The place with all the french names and rivers.
