Really SD?  I know that Canadians would go down to the States, buy a car there and then bring it across the border.  When has this changed?

Michel

Going to a farm on Canada Day. A friend's b'day. They live on a farm so it would be nice to sit on a horse. Just hoping it won't be raining.

That's weird. How come I see cars with American plates everywhere then?

I dont believe this for an instant. You might have to upgrade the headlights to daytime running lights... but for most cars in the 90's and 00's thats it. Ive got a number of friends that buy cars in the states every 6 months or a year and bring them up here, insure and drive them for a bit then sell them. You have to do an import inspection, then a TC inspection and thats about it.

ford escort zx2 from 2002-2005 is not allowed into the country for importing. Its on the list. Plus I wouldn't take it anyway it would probably break down in Wyoming or somewhere. Its got 306k km's on it.

You can drive in the other country no problem.. most insurance companies cover over the border into Canada or the STates.. hes talking about importing it and insuring it here as he will be a student resident of Canada

EDIT: actually, Lise has a point.. you dont have to insure it in Canada if you are a visiting student and a Citizen of another country like the states.. check with your insurance company

EDIT EDIT: dagnabit! My satellite connection is slow! I hate this red line when other people post

RUSS!  Hi again.

If the weather is nice on Canada Day, I'll be hitting Granville Island in my red Canada shirt and white sweats.  Yep, I am all for dressing in red and white!  :)
