my parents are shocked at the cost. They think it should be more then it is. (considering this is cheaper then an in-state public university)

Hopefully, everything will work out and it'll be a smooth transition into college for you, SD. Are you planning to visit them soon just to check out teh campus and teh peeps?

My dad made it sound like he wanted me to see the place asap. So who knows I might visit at the end of this month or in June (most likely).
First I need a passport though due to the new laws. So I could quickly move up the process for a passport. Something like 2 weeks or something instead of 10.
exciting!

Congratulations, Sportsdude. It's been a long time coming, and now it's arrived. Well done - may all go easily for you over the next few weeks.

How much does it cost to go to an in-state university in Missouri (I presume in-state means you're a resident of Missouri so don't pay out-of-state fees)?
I just checked the MUC web-site, and for International Students the tuition in an academic program (i.e., B.A. in Geography) is $4,626.21 USD ($5100 CAD) per semester (there are three semesters Fall 2007--starts September 4; Spring 2008--starts January 7; and Intersession 2008--starts May 5) so that'd be only $9,252.42 USD just for Sept-April.

And not including books, lab materials, school supplies, food, rent, furniture, daily survival needs... OMG, that was why I left Uni for a job! LOL

University of Missouri-Columbia (aka the party school where everyone is on the 6 year plan) This would be UBC equivalent.
[span class="t11px"]$6364 in state
[/span][span class="t11px"]$6977 for room and board
$13,361 a year
and if your an out of stater its over 20k.
I can't get into any Missouri schools because my ACT is very low and I've been through so many high schools I don't even have a GPA. lol
Other places I was looking at are 25k and 30k a year. I don't have that kind of money.

But SD....that price doesn't include room and board. (the $5100). How can this be cheaper?

I think you're looking at another $4300 for residency fees. That's the cheapest of the lot for 3 semesters.
Check this out

Do you have to maintain a certain GPA to maintain your acceptance in the college? I think that students outside the area have different requirements than ones who are Canadians.
I am still concerned with those numbers you have put up too because uni/college is verrrrry verrrrry expensive. And that's only tuition, not covering books and accomadation.

I know P.C. about the residence fees and board. We totaled it up yesterday night and its just under 15k.
Now compared to this other school in Minnesota at 30k a year and the school in Seattle at 25k a year. 15 k is cheap.

Are you planning to take out a student loan? I thought that you said that your parents don't have that kind of money?

Yeah, my intentions are the same as PC, am not trying to discourage you. I mean, kudos to you for getting out of Misery state.
