LOL.

I think Gophie can see this.  Everybody knows pigs taste better than gophers.  (no offence Gophie)....however, I'm certain gophers have better taste than pigs...and Gophie has the finest taste of all.  [img style="CURSOR: pointer" onclick=url(this.src); src="http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/tiere/d010.gif" border=0]

Hey Everyone!!

Got spontaneous as usual, drove to Tofino. I must say the place is great, wasn't expecting to be befriended by hippies in Tofino, seeing the town mostly of folks my age and talking to a bunch of Quebecers. Awesome place and day! One thing I don't understand is why everyone on here is concerned about commercialism. Tofino is NOT commercialized. It looks and feels like Cape Cod. If you want to see commercialism, see what happened to Maine. Another thing, I don't see how Tofino could over commercialize itself, the highway past Port Alberni is A) the wildest highway ever B) the most dangerous C) a piece of crap pavement wise.

great day, Tofino is still a gem that nobody knows about because of location.

Top of the morning all! The lunch thread has caught the speedy express. Moves too fast!

Tofino sure is pretty, SD. I like it very much for its quaintness and friendly folks. I like to stay there for a day or two then I get pretty bored. I'm more of a city person but for kids and pets, it's paradise. We will definitely go back there again for a visit.

Funny thing about yesterday, I was the ONLY one scheduled to work with my supervisor. I don't know why I was paired up with her or why she decided to come down to work with us since we don't really need the extra pair of hands. She did asked me where each co-worker was.... I think she's keeping an eye on everyone. Anyways, as much as I like her, I hope that I won't be working with her again. It's just too weird.

  BBQ-ed last night. Delicious!

G'morn!

sports, I think people are worried about it becoming commercial. Believe me, with enough interest and money, it will become very commercial. That is a worry for sure. Highways can be upgraded to cater to pre-packaged tacky tourists. Golf courses are built, Hotels planned, etc. God, nobody wants it to become "Whistler-ized", except people who have money interests.

I don't get bored there or anywhere along that part of the world. Tofino is an easy trip to the ski hill too. I get bored in the city. Born and raised in a city too...you can have it!

  Mmmmmmm COFFEE!!

Good morning....*sip*

Me too Van......born in the city....can't imagine living in one again.  Tofino is lovely.  They're very clever to have marketed themselves to utilize the stormy winter months.  Accomodations are pricey during the winter months for 'storm watching'....and it's amazing how far ahead you have to book to actually get a room or cabin.  Very clever.

I have been there during a storm season. I was surfer watching. Seen some surfers that were amazing. I tried surfing before in Mexico and I sucked at it. Snowboarding is much more relaxing, ha!

I don't know if I would live right in Tofino. I would just live in a shack a few Km. away ;) remember that pic I posted....lol!

There are a lot of good things about the city, but I think I could enjoy a city just as much if I just visited it once in awhile.

Living where there is a ski hill within 10 minutes, a bike trail out my front door to a mountain top, and a beautiful lake at the back door....I got a rush just thinking about that!

Oh for sure, it is Open for business. But I am talking about the Whistler or Banff level of commercialism. 12 Mcdonalds between 18 blocks, Starbucks on top of a Starbucks, Pizza Hut drive thru by you hotel bedroom window...

I did some surfing when I was young and picked it up instantly...although some say it's tricky.

I like the idea of being close to a city as well Van....but not in it.  You can take advantage of all the city has to offer...yet still at the end of the day, find peace at your home.  I think that's why I'm so content here....it's not unlike the type of places I used to like to go camping.  (not as wild perhaps...but close enough to give the feel)

It's nice that you can fish on the lake in the morning, swim in ocean at noon, and head for mountains all in the same day.

*lol....I remember your lovely cabin.  The one that needed a little TLC ?  [img style="CURSOR: pointer" onclick=url(this.src); src="http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/froehlich/e016.gif" border=0]

lol!

I love the Kootenays so much. I can find a lot of spots hidden from society. East and West Kootenays. The East Kootenays are amazing. Although the towns are a touch more redneck than say Nelson...(Cranbrook...omg...what happened there??!!)...but the area is so sweet.

I just need to add, I don't think there could be anything more sexy than a gal on a surfboard...
