Is he going to that function ?

Yes, he's going to the North American affiliate meeting in Texas next week.

*But* he did decide to bring me on the supplier's hosted boat cruise!  It's not costing him any $ to do so.  I believe that he was terrified that if I went to an industry function, I would leave to work with another company.

Orik

well the cruise presents you with the perfect opportunity to do just that and investigate all viable options seeking a new company to work for.  It does not mean you have to jump ship but it does allow for you to keep an open mind for furthering your career and should your current employer continue to forget your value, you will have accumulated a list of company's and people to start calling should the need arise. ;)

What are chickpeas? Are they anything like normal peas? I don't like peas so I avoid anything pea related.

Orik

The Chickpea is more like a bean than a pea it goes by a few different names.

according to Wiki.

The chickpea (Cicer arietinum) (also garbanzo bean,  Indian pea, ceci bean, Bengal gram) is an edible legume of  the family Fabaceae, subfamily Faboideae.  Chickpeas are high in protein and one of the earliest cultivated  vegetables. 7,500-year-old remains have been found in the Middle East.

Thanks Orik. I don't think I've ever had chickpeas. Not on purpose anyway.
