Well Russ just to let you know. The system works in that whom you vote for, you're vote is 1.98 that's where you are putting your money. Anyway in Paul Martin's memoir he rants on Chretien for passing the law because most of the Liberal backers were big backers on Bay Street. So in Martin's view Chretien was killing off the Liberals cash cow, while the Conservatives were always small donors. Liberals have been short of cash ever since the passing of the federal law....
I know that. I think its right that big corporations cant influence political elections like that by throwing big money towards a party. I think its right that PEOPLE can make political donations.. as they vote and they are the ones that elect a government.
I suppose that is a way of looking at how a voter 'donates' money to a party.. and you are right in essence. Except that its taxpayer money thats been diverted without people actually putting their hands into their pockets and taking the time to donate. Thats the point, you are forced to donate. Look at the reaction when it was first introduced, and look at the polls of people about Harpers desire to do it now. Many people want it done, they dont WANT their money funding political parties.
P.C. do you have Black Forest cake?
I still want pumpkin pie. And Im still mad at whomever walked off with my pumpkin I had for halloween.. I carved it the night of halloween and wanted to use it for pie the next day. At least I didnt see it smashed on the street I suppose.
