This was supposed to be my first normal work week in the last six, however when I got there this morning I found that someone had thrown a pear through the window during the night.

So you had to spend the morning replacing the window?  Did you save the pear for fruit salad, or was it destroyed on impact?

One thing I've learned in dealing with people is to never expect a normal day.  Eventually the dashed expectations lead to paranoia.

I'm feeling pretty paranoid at the moment because the glazier's phone appears to be off the hook.

If you can't reach a glazier today, will you have to board up the window?  Or even worse *shudder*  have to stay overnight to guard the place?

No, the pear has somehow lodged itself  between the outer (broken) pane and the inner  - I had no idea that there was so much of a gap between the two.
