I need help, I am a guest here altho I have posted a few times.  I have an iPod nano and have had it since May.  I want to download some songs, don't mind paying a fee but not per song, a fee for unlimited downloads to ensure protection from virus's etc.  My friend's teenager uses Limewire, another Kazaa.  Could someone recommend a site?  Could someone recommend a link as to where all these sites would be reviewed like a Consumer's Report type of thing?  I keep hearing songs in movies or on the radio that I would like to have (mostly older songs but like new stuff, too).  I would very much appreciate any information, advice as to where to start.  Thanks.

By the way, I looked at Mymusicinc.com but don't know anything about that one either.  Is Napster good?

One more thing, apparently, you can download a firewall at Limewire, too, although I didn't really see any information there about it.  Would this firewall conflict with my shaw internet connection?

Go to the official Apple site and download the iTunes program. Much safer and the collection of songs are pretty good. You can download songs there even if you don't own an Apple.

I would stay away from sites like Limewire or Kazaa.... haven't heard anything good about these guys lately. You never know when you might be downloading a virus or adware.

Thanks but don't you have to pay $.99 a song on iTunes?  I will check it out tho.  Limewire says 100% Adware free, Trojan free and maybe Spyware Free (can't remember the last one), not that I really believe that.

I'd recommend eMule. It's free and has no spyware. Limewire and Kazaa are loaded with crap.

Hah! In my day we didn't even have music, all we could do was hum. And we were greatful for it, too. You young whippersnappers....

Go use torrents. I stopped using that kazaa crap (gave me a virus) a long time ago. Download something called "BitComet", then go to www.isohunt.com and search for whatever artist/song you want. I've been using that for over 2 years now, and no problems so far... no fees as well!
I guess you could use www.allmusic.com for music reviews, but I don't like using that site.

Oh yeah, eMule gave me a virus too, so I would avoid using that...

Thanks everyone.  I will check them all out.

Yes, you do but it's a lot safer than going through other less reputable sites. Good luck!
