Hullo Missy Lise and purelife.

Thats too bad you are having THREE extractions miss purelife. I dont remember mine being that much, my company doesnt cover any expenses anymore.. so I pay my way. I have been going to mid main community centre on 24th and main for a while. Right by king ed and main, beside the shell station.

You would be amazed at the amount of people that go to brazil or to asia (china for example) for a big tooth operation like a crown or a new tooth because of how cheap it is.. and they get a vacation there to boot. For example when I was there I had a tooth crack and fragments come off, the cap on top hadnt sealed and ate the tooth out hollow beneath it. I got it checked out, ALL my teeth cleaned and coated with that strawberry tasting crap, drilled out, pain killer injected, filled and capped... for 12 bucks USD. I also signed up to the chinese medical system? LOL, I have a card and everything. I came home and had my dentist check it out, he said it looks really good. It was amazing the building I was in, 12 floors with twenty dentists per floor, the first floor was reception and paying, the second floor was consultations and inspections before directing you to the floor you want to go to. I had an interpretor, and a personal dentist cause I was a white foreigner.

Hope all goes well for you.

Oh Lise.  How much does it cost for the patient portion of the lab costs?  My dentist charges me $100 for the Extractions.  This $100 is to cover the tables with the blue drapes and stuff.  Does this sound about right?  And my extractions are at about $275 per tooth (the most expensive extraction).  I have 3 teeth and I am pretty sure that my medical will cover 100%.  I am just waiting for my Insurance Company to confirm.  *crossing fingers*

Hm. There are NO lab fees attached to extraction. Lab work usually involves dentures, bruxism appliances (night guards), crowns etc etc... those are work done by a lab technician outside the dental office. Why would he cover tables with blue drapes? That makes no sense at all. Is it sedation or anesthesia? Those do cost extra. Sometimes if you opt for general anesthesia (like what you get for fillings) and not sedation (light sleep), it's usually cheaper. Just depending on how strong you are on the dental chair.

Bear in mind, the oral surgeon usually charges extra for everything because they are specialist. The cost of extraction will also depend on how impacted the teeth are. You may have one of the more complicated tooth.

Anyways, good luck with the insurance company. I'm sure they'll cover most of it. You can always opt to get them extracted one at a time. Some general dentist do complex extraction but those are rare because of the procedure involve.

Foreign dental care is a bit of a problem. You don't know what type of medical/ dental training they go through. I've seen first hand what problems they cost down the road and it's really, really scary the things they put into your teeth.

No thanks.  I would rather have my teeth checked here. Might hurt my wallet a bit but at least I know I'm getting good treatment.

Morning Russ.

Wow, 12 floors of Dental Practioners!  Holy moly.  That's awesome.  And cheap too!   One day, I'd have to visit the Orient.  I'd like to see where I fit in.  ;)

My extractions won't take place for a few weeks until my dental office receives a written confirmation that my company will be paying the costs in full.  I am so looking forward for more room for my bottom teeth.  They're quite squished at the moment.  I heard that it'll take a year or so for teeth to realign and fill in the gaps.  And, I will have a much wider and more beautiful smile.  (not that I don't now.  hee hee )

purelife

I thought that it was weird to see a $100 fee that I would have to fork out of my own pocket.  She said that this has to be paid no matter how many times you get your tooth extracted.  I'd rather do all 3 and pay the $100 than do it separately.  She explanied to me that it's for the blue drapes and stuff.  I kind of have no choice, I guess.  She told me that it'll be a simple extraction.  THANK GAWD!

Lise

For teeth to alinged properly, you need braces. They won't magically fill in once your 3rd molars are removed. Hate to burst your bubble there.

I still don't get the $100 up-front-fee. Oh well. Different office policies, I guess. Good luck with the extractions. It'll be worth it.

Really Lise?  My friend who got her two wisdom teeth removed told me that within a year, her teeth spread apart.  And so many people have told me this as well.  Oh well, I'll have to see what happens then.

Lise

I guess it would depend on everyone's case. Each is different. In most cases, most teeth do not drift back to the 3rd molar (simply because there's no room) but you never know.

Verrrrrry quiet today.

I heard that it's going to snow tonight and that we're having high winds.

At the moment, the Stanley Park Causeway and Lions Gate Bridge are closed.  Oh, what a nightmare!

Mr. P.C. requested a meatloaf with whipped potatoes and kernel corn.  One of his favourite comfort food meals......lol.  So meatloaf it was.

I'm not a fan of meatloaf.... too much meat. Comfort food for me right now is chicken pot pie and soup.

Crap. Snow again. Tired of snow. Think Vancouver has way too much snow this winter.
