Good morning everyone.

Reading....*sigh*.  I just haven't made the time for it lately.  But I sure feel starved when I haven't read a good book in a while.

I know this because I was shopping around Chinatown when I was in Victoria. There are also tons of veggies you can buy there suitable for hotpot like bok choi or choi sum etc.

That's kinda the problem Lise.  There isn't a 'local' Chinatown near me.  I know Chinatown in Victoria is fabulous, but I'm lucky if I get to Victoria once in a year or two.

I liked Russ' idea of partially freezing (or partially thawing) the meats to slice thinly....but I sure do like those little trays of pre rolled meats....LOL.  It sure makes for a quick and simple meal.  I think I could see myself spending a day, just making up all those trays (in combos) and freezing for the ready.

Hahahaaaa.  Mmmm, that looks delicious Lil Me.  Why didn't I think of that!

I like the idea of things I can do ahead.  As much as I like to cook, I often lose interest on days when I'm involved in a project.  'Ready to go' stuff appeals to me sometimes.

Hubby will spend the whole day making perogies and freezing them (best perogies in the WORLD)  I do the same for lasagnes, spaghetti sauce and pot pies.....so I think I'll add a day for hot pot meats.

I've been around, just a bit unispired - maybe by coming down to reality. However, nice to be in contact again.

Hi Gophie.  Hi SD.

I had a canned salmon sandwich.  Potato salad will be ready later in the afternoon.

Heckyl is home from 5 days of camping with his friend's family.  He's showered, lunched and lying in bed reading about dragons.

we're shocked at how the prices have sky rocketed. I had a complicated huge surgery 10 years ago and it cost just as much as a simple cyst now. crazy.

I also had a salmon related sandwich... I took the can of salmon and added peaches n cream corn (from can) and just spread it over a wrap.  It was yummy!  I had to try something new.

Gosh guys you sure like to dampen spirits. You're not very encouraging bunch. I know its an uphill climb, but then what's the point of a challenge if you don't try.  Yes I know the qualifications, what I need to do, what kind of grades I need. I've known what I needed to do for a couple years now.
And I'm not naive, if I was that died 4 years ago.

Just checking in to see if you've moved to Nanaimo yet.  There's been quite a bit of really good advice from people regarding your studies and future career as an urban planner.  Hope you can stand yet more advice from someone else.

Maybe they do things differently in the USA than Canada regarding what kind of jobs an urban planner does.  Have you checked out the job postings via the PIBC?  Will you be signing up as a student member of not only the Planning Institute of British Columbia but also both the The Canadian Association of Planning Students and the American Planning Association?  Attend as many conferences as you can, and do all your assignments with the idea they could be used as conference poster sessions or presentations.  This is key if you are planning to go on and get a graduate degree.  The professors you meet at the conference will in the future decide whether to admit you to their program.

Did you know the Urban Growth Management program you are enrolling in at Malaspina College is not accreditated or recognized by either the PAB or CIP at the undergraduate level.  That could affect whether you can get into UBC at the graduate level which makes attending conferences even more key.

In any case, good luck with your studies, I'm sure you know what you're doing, but do listen to 49er, he knows what he's talking about!
