lol! Miss Pitt..

Really PC? I thought granite with a polished finish will repel water/moisture etc with no stains.. I like the feel of a solid countertop.. what would you suggest then?

It's frustrating that this kind of crap has such a huge affect on your day.  It's OK Miss Pit.....I'm a firm believer in karma.....real karma...lol.  She WILL get hers.  Sometimes it's hard when you're the one waiting though.

My parents have polished granite with a sealant on top.  It's fine, but keep in mind that they're OCD.

hmmm...asked around...seems that the ornery one..has quite the reputation for wanting to be the queen bee...not going to fly in my world.  Just don't want to get fired for a loss of temper..as I have put in almost 8 years with the company

My parents.  My entire fam.  I was affected the least, and I can turn it off for the most part.

I was surprized too Russ.  I would have thought there was nothing more durable than something as natural and impervious as granite.  It's a pain in the butt for fingerprints and water stains.

What would I recommend?  Hmmm....not sure what look you're going for, but Corian has some finishes that are visually identical to granite and/or marble, but a thousand times more durable and functional.  The drawback????  It's very expensive (yes...even more than granite or marble)  Not MUCH more....but a little more.

Tile's not for everyone, but that's what I'm doing.  I like the look and I like how it functions.

you are lucky then LM...we have so many things to do that we don't realize...and OCD would just hamper that.

She sounds like a Queen B alright.  Hand in there Miss Pit.  Don't let her screw you out of 8 years.

Ack! I appologize Lil Me, when I say who's OCD, its the Russ way of saying, "what does OCD mean". Its one of my little quirks. I did not mean to imply I knew what OCD meant and who IS OCD.

Interesting PC... I thought I had done my research into it, guess not. What about Marble then? And this Durian (sp?) comes in similar looks to granite with natural colours?

Before my parents redid the kitchen, we used to have tile in the backwall and countertop. There now is the typical 80's countertop with tiles backing. I like tile backing onthe back wall, but Im not a fan of tiles on the counters, Im finicky in the fact I like a flat surface the whole way. I remember intensely disliking the tiles.

no prob, Russmeister.  Everyone has their quirks.

Tile countertops are insanely hard to keep clean (unless you're OCD).

Dont worry Miss Pitt, I tend to have the same feelings as PC. Keep your chin up and Karma will have a way of getting back to the other person, they always get their come uppance. It might take a while and you might not see it.. but they will!

I know its easy for us to say when we arent in your shoes... but you are the better person, and it will work out in the end.

I tend to have the philosophy of just nodding and smiling, and trying my best not to let things bother me too much. At the end of the day, its not worth getting too worked up over things that you cant change or be that way anyway at the end of the day. While that sounds good I still get mad and bang things with a hammer cursing it blue.
