I remember my last meal very well.............a small tossed salad with Ranch dressing, and a small tenderized steak, well done.  To the best of my knowledge both the salad and meat were fresh, as I had bought them that day on the way home from work.  So I honestly don't know what triggered it.  And I think a lack of natural resistance to illness has prolonged the misery.

I hear what you're saying, P.C., but the fact of the matter is there is almost no help available for the lady, and no space available in a reliable rest home for respite.  I can't imagine putting her in any old substandard space with poor care.  She doesn't deserve that.

I just checked your last post, P.C.  You're right.....there does seem to be an echo, at that.

Did you cut the steak (before cooking) then used the same knife to cut the vegetables? That's usually the cause of sickness at restuarants.

No, it was a pretenderized steak, single size serving.  All I did was season it and put it in the pan.  The salad was a basic lettuce, tomato and cuke salad, nothing fancy.  When I finish work at night, I don't feel like doing anything fancy.

I DO understand your emotional committment to your lady, Kitten.....I'm just worried about you.  You're going to end up needing someone to care for YOU.

Hi Sportsdude [img style="CURSOR: pointer" onclick=url(this.src); src="http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/froehlich/a010.gif" border=0].  I think the cutting raw meat is more of a concern with chicken....beef shouldn't be an issue.  I'm thinking dressing.  Anything 'mayo' based.  I got food poisoning twice.....once from corned beef, and once from tartar sauce.  It's a wretched ache.

I checked the due date on the dressing and it is still current, but I think I'll toss it anyway, just in case.  Why take chances?

When in doubt....throw it out.  [img style="CURSOR: pointer" onclick=url(this.src); src="http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/froehlich/k010.gif" border=0]

Do you wash the lettuce even if it says its 'pre washed'?

Goodnight and the sweetest of dreams to you.

Of course, SD.  I'm very, very careful with food.  Goodnight again!

Talk to you ladies later. Another long day of work over for me.

P.C.

Are you actually going to get to bed before midnight, Sportsdude ????

Sportsdude

Well yes and no. I'm done for the night but as I look at the clock its midnight so technically not yet. Plus I've got to get ready for bed and that takes a half an hour.
