[SPAN class=mainbodytext_wp]The ports of Dubai make up some of the busiest commercial hubs in the world for the "global war of terrorism." Conveniently located between the Afghanistan and Iraq, Dubai is the ideal jumping-off point for military contractors and a lucrative link in the commercial supply chain of goods and people. [/SPAN]

[SPAN class=mainbodytext_wp]Contract mismanagement and possible corruption in the Iraqi government are fueling a crisis over international gasoline delivery into Iraq. Citing a mountain of unpaid bills, the governments of Turkey and Saudi Arabia have shut off gasoline exports to Iraq. With it's options dwindling and beleaguered Iraqis demanding fuel, Baghdad has begun to negotiate with former arch-rival, Iran. [/SPAN]

soapbox

if you are asking an open ended question...well i suppose many american firms will be involved in iraq.there will also be firms from around the world.

if you implying that the sole reason for the invasion was so that american firms could profit from the invasion you surely have a myopic understanding of the conflict and it's broader goals.

the reason (not the official reason stated which was WMD and a threat to global/american seciruty) was to use iraq as a model for change in the region.the theory goes..if iraq becomes a successful reformed nation in the region it may resonate to other countries when domestic populations see the economic prosperity democratic reforms have brought iraq and therefore nations in the neighbourhood will feel pressure to reform away from theocracies and monarchies to pluralistic, transparent democracies.

this is not a secret and was being developed as early as 1996.

it is not a war about commodities and who control those resources (no doubt that is a very big issue) it is about regime change and new american foreign policy that seeks to act first to promote friendly governments in regions where they tend not to be so friendly to american interests.
