You know even if you copy the VHS's to DVD's.. you will keep the VHS's as backups.

A long time ago, I looked into the transferring of VHS to DVD and completed one.  I don't remember how I did it though... I had a friend to help me.  

  I remember him connecting computer to VCR..but don't remember what cards and plugs were needed  He had everything with him.

Hey thanks TB and purelife !  I understand that although using the method of backing it up onto the computer and then burning, is more complicated, it gives better results.  (?) *I wonder if you can edit, doing it that way.  I think you can improve sound and picture quality.  I have some things taped from TV...so to edit out commercials would be awesome.  That program you linked, TB....looks interesting.

  *Russ....you're so right.  LOL    I hope to bite the bullet and chuck'em all if I can do this.  I AM a little gun shy about technology that's obsolete every couple years...and 'disappearing' data.

 If you decide to go with a combo, make sure you read well the critics of the various combo, as lots of time they just won't do the work. The first device for example as a very bad critic on line, I have experience some frustration with DVD recorders already and I know there's a lot of compatibility issues in this field.

    AHA !  That's exactly the issue I'm confused about.  I had posted those very concerns just when DS went down for a bit....and I just noticed it didn't post.  I think that's what I was poorly trying to express earlier, about the difference in 'recording or copying' VHS to DVD than 'burning' it.  (I think)[/DIV]
