Mondo Projecto

The latest project at Rancho TB....an enclosed hot tub.
Starting off....the pad area, enclosed with landscape timbers. We
had to do this to level the side of the yard and provide a nice solid base.
The pad area, enclosed with landscape timbers (a different view).
Filling the pad base with gravel, there's my sweetie running for cover.
Starting the pour of 4 yards of "
5/8th inch minus
" gravel......
Almost done...
At maximum tilt....he got every last bit out.
4 yards of 5/8th" gravel in the pad base, ready for leveling.
It all went right into the base neat as a pin without hardly a single rock
falling outside of the enclosure.
Ahhhh, a couple hours later, all nice and raked flat. It's a lot
more work than you might imagine!
The pad filled, all watered and tamped down, packed flat and
ready for the frame to be built on top.
The top frame is now built on the pad with the electrical wires pulled
into place. What
I didn't get pics of was the trenching...it was
a bear- about 300 feet of
pure trenching goodness done with
a self-propelled 'DitchWitch'.
Ground level shot of the completed frame on the pad.
The power panel box and disconnect system. These things cost
about as
much as a drunken weekend in Vegas (with hookers).
The pad covered in Trex, a plastic composite decking material. Trex
is super durable and super expensive. A single board costs ~$24.00 and
I needed 32 of them. (You do the math.) Trex is very heavy and lasts
damn near forever. It doesn't rot, chip, peel, weather, split, etc etc. It's
great stuff but it'll suck the life right out of your wallet. But it's really
beautiful stuff and warm to the touch (feels nice on the feet).
The hot tub crew from Clearwater Spas starting assembly.....
Bringing in the tub itself....
Getting closer to completion.....
All four walls in place.........
Attaching the roof assembly...the sliding glass doors are in place
now.
It took about 4 hours for them to build everything.
And finally, it's done. Whew, I was worn out just watching them.
We took it for a test drive the next morning after it warmed up
overnight,
and I will now be living in the tub for the next few weeks.
Ta-Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Whoa! Good one, TB. Can we come and join you guys for a spa party?
Always end the name of your child with a vowel, so that when you yell the name will carry.

Of course, but we have a strict "no clothes" policy...those stray threads could damage the delicate little hot tub pumps. No, really, I swear....
