Don't forget to put some seed out for the birdies when it snows.  I make peanut butter balls for them.  I peel an orange, coat it in peanut butter, then roll it in bird seed and hang them in the trees.  They like them and I get to watch them.

Have you ever come across Tit Cake?

No Gophie.....I can't say I have.  Would that be made with milk?

Good on you for feeding the birdies, P.C.
Though, I wonder about the ecology of feeding the birds?! Birds survived before humans started feeding them, and I wonder if we might be disrupting their migratory patterns by feeding them during winter?!  Just wondering.  I haven't given this any thought.

Certainly not! You get suet and flour, make it into a ball, and then add seeds and currants.

But only one currant per tit cake?

I've thought about that too.  But I think that birds are that are still here by the time the snow flies, they aren't likely to be migratory birds.  I also question whether it's a good idea, because I have the belief that when nature is out of balance, it is ALWAYS rooted in human interference.

But watching those adorable little critters all puffed up and shivering looking for food, breaks my heart.

No each tit can have as many currants as it likes. Talking of St. Francis and birds, can't you just imagine all his followers busily making tit cakes in the monastery? I've got several Franciscan friends, I must write to them and find out if they do indeed do this.

Ah, PC now I can see what you were getting at: a tit crowning each little cake.

Actually that was Miss Me's quit wit....but I'll take credit for it.

Must run....hubby is calling for my assistance.  Take care and have a good day Gophie.
