Oh de toilet ( ) is cologne.  Water based.  Perfume is a concentrated 'oil' based.

I know Eau is water.....I was being a doofus.  I was trying to point out that it's not a cultural thing to call it one way or the other....they are called different names because they are different things.

My European friend who is the Russian version of me basically, said "no no It's not cologne it's perfume." I responded saying "well where I grew up nobody calls it perfume, it's cologne." He wouldn't believe until I showed him at a local mall here in St. Louis.

cologne- men's perfume
perfume - women

Simple.  Your Russian friend is misinformed...and so are you.

I would find it hard to believe that you could not get any of these fragrances in Missouri.  I'll send you my $100 dividend if this is true.

I'm not talking about a type of perfume. I'm talking about names. Its like a women's and men's restroom.

doesn't matter what type or brand
When you say perfume the attendant will take you to women's fragrances.
Cologne is a code word for the men's section doesn't matter what type.

Lately though they want everyone to say fragrance. PC I guess.

I'm not talking about a type of perfume either.    You DO have women's cologne in Missouri.....check it out.  Go to Sears and ask to see some women's cologne.  They have it.

I know they do. We call that perfume, what I'm talking about has nothing to do with types. Just a blanket term to separate the style for both.

Because 'WE' call it perfume, doesn't make it perfume.
