Wow. That's lacking in good taste indeed. I can't believe she said that. Good for you for writing a letter to her, PC. You have my support.

I actually just received a response from CTV.  I was a little surprised. I expected a form letter of sorts.

Excellent, PC. What did it say if you don't mind me asking?

Dear ****,

Your frustration and anger is totally understandable and we absolutely agree
with your sentiments in this matter.  Stevie Cameron is a respected
journalist and author who has spent 4 years researching the background to
the Pickton case and thus brings some context to this awful, awful trial.

I can't help but think she must have simply misspoken and meant to say the
story of Pickton, as presented at trial, was dramatic.  It is one of the
perils of live TV that we have little control over our guests during the
interview.  We can only prepare them and our hosts for the interview, and in
this case we did all of that.

However I do apologize for any offence, and we want you to know we have had
a serious editorial discussion about using this commentator again and that
we have spoken to Ms. Cameron.

Again, please accept our regrets for this unfortunate use of words.  We are
as sickened by this trial as our community, and only hope that justice is
done for the families and the victims at the end of it all.

Many thanks for taking the time to write, and please don't hesitate to be in
touch again with any comments or suggestions in the future.

WOW. WOW. I can't believe they wrote that. Nice. At least they're apologetic about the whole issue.

Thanks for letting us share that, PC. I guess CTV News really do listen. I'm proud of our Canadian network!

By the sounds of things, mine wasn't the only complaint.

True but at least they've taken the time to reply back. Most news network won't do that.

most news networks read and delete or don't even read them at all.

My first impression as well PC. If there was that nice of a letter back, EVEN a letter back... they must be doing damage control. Otherwise their sales of papers would overule what anybody thinks.

CTV gets brownie points.

Question PC, was this the local CTV station or the National station.  It would be even more amazing if it was the national network because they usually do not reply to complaints.  The local stations do that.

Not only did they not 'read and delete', I had actually sent it to the wrong department the first time.  I sent it to the 'askus' address and they sent a letter back from there telling me so.

Wow. They're on the ball. So I take it it was CTV the network and not the local Vancouver station. Simply stunning.  You don't see that kind of interaction between viewers and the national network here. bravo ctv
