Gateway was my absolute favorite novel as a kid.

I used to imagine being locked on an alien space pod for months with certain carefully chosen celebrities. It's exciting at first, but I just know that whoever I got shacked up with, when the authorities opened the hatch at the other end of the journey they would find a blood-splattered cockpit and one guilty-looking passenger (not necessarily me).
