"I've been mentioning for a couple years that Kolbe isn't only gay, but that he's enamored of teenage boys. So major alarms went off last week when his office announced his "heroic" involvement in the Foley page scandal. It was clear to me immediately that having someone with Kolbe's reputation for forcing his attentions on young men as involved with dozens of teenage male pages was a bad thing. On October 8th I wrote that [a href="http://downwithtyranny.blogspot.com/2006/10/jim-kolbe-figures-into-foley-scandal.html"]his story smelled fishy[/a] and that another shoe would drop. The [a href="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15249733/"]other shoe dropped today[/a]-- like a ton of bricks. 'Federal prosecutors in Arizona have opened a preliminary investigation of a camping trip Congressman Jim Kolbe, R-Ariz., took 10 years ago that included two teenage congressional pages, a Justice Department spokesman told NBC News.'"

No, not at all.  And, apart from Republican hyprocrisy in its gay-bashing stances, this issue is not about sexual orientation at all but about a borderline pedophile Republican congressman abusing his authority to sexually prey on teenage boys, pages placed under the care of trust of Congress.  Why on earth are you defending a sexual predator, anyway?

I don't think the question amounts to a defence of sexual predation.

On it's own, maybe not, but in the context in which it was asked, I'm sorry to say that it comes across that way

Yeah But

"I've been mentioning for a couple years that Kolbe isn't only gay, but that he's enamored of teenage boys."

Sure sounds like it when you put it that way. As if being gay was bad all by itself, but he's also after teenage boys. As if it compounds his "sin" of being gay.

"Yeah but" retorted: Sure sounds like it when you put it that way. As if being gay was bad all by itself, but he's also after teenage boys. As if it compounds his "sin" of being gay.

I didn't write that. That's an excerpt from in a [a  href="http://www.downwithtyranny.com"]www.downwithtyranny.com[/a] article written by Keninny,  but I can see how someone might interpret it that way.  Based on his other writings, the author - "Keninny" - is not homophobic, but he is disgusted by the hateful hyprocrisy of the Republicans in their gay-bashing Gay Marriage Amendment, just to appeal to the anti-gay prejudices of many in their Rightard voting base. Forcefully "outing" people is not something I would endorse unless it is of a criminal nature that harms animals/children/innocent people (such as those of borderline Republican pedophile Jim Kolbe, R-Ariz, who's been abusing his position  of authority to molest kids for over 10 years, while other Republicans provided cover, since he's on their corrupt side) .

Oh my. Aren't we being righteously offended again. And to think that it's you lot who are the most vocal about the Catholic Church making people feeling guilty.

Not feeling guilty yet, Adam_Fulford ?   :)

I'm not sure if Yeah But's concerns are heartfelt or not, but it's a legitmate enough point about  semantics.   I'm impressed how Republican trash-talkers such as Ann Coulter are suddenly concerned about homophobia, though they are the gay-bashing party of America.  They'll latch onto any cause when it serves their ends, whatever they are.

I concede your point about semantics. You could take it the way Yeah But apparently took it.

Besides, most often it would probably be the right way.
