Neat idea: a roll-up frying pan. From the design competition organized by designboom.com. I don't believe this is an actual product; it's just a concept piece.

"Nearly every kitchen has a storage problem with too much room taken up by pots, pans, equipment, and white goods. The Scroll Pan is a product which radically changes the way we perceive the regular frying pan. It folds and rolls and addresses the serious issue of storage. Great for cooking omelettes, bacon, steak etc the Scroll Pan introduces more fun to frying. Folding your omelette, for example, has never been easier. Different shapes and sizes as well as cooking surfaces would be available in the range and each pan comes with a storage sleeve which can be hung up. The rolling base of the pan could be made in a number of ways. Diphenyl silicone (plasma treated and Teflon coated) would produce a heatproof and flexible surface. Safe to cook on, light, durable and easy to clean the Scroll Pan is a modern, stylish and fun addition to the kitchen."

The real trouble with reality is that there's no background music.

Honestly? I would buy one for camping. Space is usually a thing for me and all I cook on them is bacon, hashbrowns, and eggs from those small cartons you buy in safeway or stupidstore.

Actually thinking about it if its one of those cheap trendy designer priced things for like a hundred bucks I probably wont.

Would anyone else see themselves possibly using this thing for any cooking in the house?

To be honest, probably not. It looks cool, but it also looks like it would be hard to manage without spilling food everywhere. I just thought it was kind of a cool idea. (And I still do, just not a practical one.)

I think given time, the flat surface will wear out. All that rolling and un-rolling won't be too good for the pan.
