Happy birthday to the tank....
September 15 marks the 90th anniversary of the first use of a tank in warfare. On this day in 1916, British tanks advanced toward German positions in the Battle of the Somme. The real trouble with reality is that there's no background music.

It's easy- you just have to appreciate tanks. It's a guy thing.

They speak sometimes, but only the language of destruction.

I also refuse to celebrate their birthday.

I agree.  Thanks, but no tanks.

For some very unlikely reason (can't think what), this reminds me of an occasion when I went shopping with a friend who was over from Czechoslovakia. Wanting to buy a bra for his wife, who hadn't been able to make the trip, he walked into the shop and surprised everyone by very politely stating, "I'd like to buy a sack for my wife's goats".

It got better because when they'd eventually decided what he wanted they asked him what size and he gave it in centimetres instead of inches.

I can imagine the shock on their faces!  Did you hide far, far away until the transaction was completed?

I just joined in the general uproar of laughter. I wish I could remember some of the other things which happened during this visit, the above was but one of the funny incidents. I'll let you know more as they come to mind.

Perhaps the photos should have been captioned "Tanks For The Memories"?
