Canada! Sooo EVIL with all the abortion and gay marriage. Never understood? Its ok to molest little boys, but two grown adults of the same sex can't get married????

Bloody Canada will BURN for this!

 The Associated Press

Pope Benedict lashed out Friday at Canada for allowing same sex marriage and abortion, saying the policies resulted from Catholic politicians ignoring the values of their religion.

"In the name of tolerance, your country has had to endure the folly of the redefinition of spouse," the Pope told a group of bishops from Ontario. "In the name of freedom of choice, it is confronted with the daily destruction of unborn children."

Such laws, Benedict said, are the result of "the exclusion of God from the public sphere."

He lamented that Catholic politicians had yielded to "ephemeral social trends and the spurious demands of opinion polls."

Benedict has made the defence of traditional family values a major goal of his papacy, speaking out often on the issue. During a trip to Spain in July, he challenged that country's sotgwpdt government for instituting liberal reforms such as gay marriage and fast-track divorce.

Parliament passed legislation in June 2005 that made Canada the fourth country in the world to recognize gay marriage.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper has said he will revisit the issue, and that members of Parliament will be asked this fall whether or not they wish to reopen the debate.

Although the motion could open the door to further discussion by MPs on same-sex marriage, it will not directly challenge the existing legislation.

It may, however, ask if parliamentarians wish to repeal the existing law or curtail it in some way.

Then it's a good thing in my opinion. :)

The pope is such a useless nimrod. It's sad that anyone listens to a word he says. This ignorant, backward-thinking relic of a bygone era still has loads of people (morons) who hang on his every word just as if what he thinks still meant anything. How ridiculous.

Pope wants the world to go back to the holy roman empire days. Where he controlled everything and anything. He's like a dictator for God.

Which doesn't suprise me since he has fascist leanings (hitler youth). Doesn't believe in democracy and freedom.

I don't think he's a dictator FOR God. The God of my beliefs is one of love and compassion.
A fool's paradise is better than none.

Yeah, I guess I never understood Catholicism?! When all the whistle blowing was going on about decades of young boys being fondled and raped, I felt sick to my stomach. Not only because it happened, but also the lack of attention, or care from the Poop himself.

Don't worry, carma will bite his ugly face off in due time!

I was talking to a muslim girl that was moving away from her religion then had a scare (got drunk ran into a guard rail went through the wind shield) and she went back to her faith.

I don't see myself going back. Its not my church per say but the religion as a whole. I feel like they have gone to extreme and are leaving some people behind. I didn't loose my religion it just left me. So I'm like 'fine I'll go my own way then'.

Mom freaked out when I said I'm non religious anymore. She miss understood me. I'm not athiest but I can't catagorize myself as a 'non practicing' person either.

Word of advice to anyone: NEVER EVER EVER get involved in church politics.
"We can't stop here. This is bat country."

Ummmm

Doesn't believe in democracy and freedom.

No pope has ever believed in freedom. That's not what religion is about.

sportsdude, that's the stupidest post i have ever seen you write.

simply because as a boy he belonged to the hitler youth doesn not in any way mean he understood or supported national sotgwpdm.

and by simply belonging to the hitler youth then does not translate at all into his adult political beliefs,in fact he has openly denounced national sotgwpdm for exactly what it is. a godless horrific example of extremism.

he was also one of the first pope's to encourage inter faith meetings with jews and muslims and publically stated his support for the [A href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nostra_Aetate"]vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nostra_Aetate[/A]  document.

he most certainly does support the freedom and liberty of people's and government, because sportsdude,it is in these society's freedom of religion is practiced.

i am not a catholic BTW and support homosexual unions,i am a liberal protestant.[/DIV]

he also deserted the regular army unit he was in to return to his bavarian village.

That's like saying you support cattle ranchers because you eat at McDonalds.

Again, no pope has ever supported real freedom, that's not what religion is about. It's about forcing people to conform, to believe in shit they know isn't so, and discrminating against anyone who isn't in your club. Popes throughout history have been liars, cheaters, murderers, and con artisits. One was even killed when he was found in bed with another man's wife. They've bought their way into office on many. many occasions. You can look this stuff up, it's all factual and very well documented.

Popes have never encouraged free thinking or freedom or liberty because it goes against everything they stand for, and to claim otherwise is just plain silly.

Ummmm

For example, Pope John XII was accused of sacrilege, simony, perjury, murder, adultery, and incest, and was summoned in writing to defend himself. Refusing to recognize the synod, John pronounced sentence of [a href="vny!://www.newadvent.org/cathen/05678a.htm"]excommunication[/a] (ferendæ sententia) against all participators in the assembly, should they elect in his stead another pope. The emperor now came forward to accuse John of having broken the agreement ratified by oath, betrayed him, and called in Adalbert. With the imperial consent the synod deposed John on 4 December, and elected to replace him the protoscriniarius Leo, yet a layman.

Ummmm

Popes have helped cover up the rampant pedophilia in the Catholic church for DECADES. Does that sound like someone who supports "freedom and liberty"? Yes, but only if it's for them.

NORTH ATTLEBORO, Massachusetts -- Former North Attleboro    priest James Porter told Pope Paul VI in 1973 that he had been sexually molesting    children, nearly 20 years before victims stepped forward to reveal the abuse    they had suffered. Porter's confession is among newly released records which show that Catholic    church officials -- including the late Cardinal Humberto Medeiros -- knew of    child molestation allegations against Porter as far back as the 1960s. The court    document is among hundreds of pages obtained by the Boston Herald and reported    today.[/p] Porter's personnel file included a 17-page letter he wrote to Pope Paul VI    in which he asked to be removed from the priesthood. The file was forwarded    to the Vatican in 1973.[/p] In the letter addressed to `Most Holy Father,' Porter, who was a priest at    St. Mary's Church in North Attleboro during the early 1960s, recounts that Fall    River Bishop James Connolly knew he had been caught molesting a boy, and Connolly    sent him home to be with his family until the scandal died down.[/p] " 'A short time later Bishop Connolly gave me another chance and assigned    me to Sacred Heart Parish in Fall River', Porter wrote. 'I can't recollect much    about my stay there except after a short time I again fell into the same situation    that plagued me in North Attleboro'."[/p] Porter has admitted to molesting at least 50 children while he was a priest    in the Diocese of Fall River in the 1960's. He pleaded guilty to molesting 28    children in 1993 after victims formed a group in 1992 and detailed the abuse    against them."[/p] This information is simply and totally unbelievable! Let us review these terrible    revelations again, one by one:[/p] 1. Tortured Pedophile priest, James Porter, wrote a 17-page letter to "His    Holiness", Pope Paul VI, completely confessing his sexual molestation and    rape of children. Porter then asked to be relieved of his duties, undoubtedly    because he did not want to continue his compulsive sexual abuse![/p] [p style="font-weight: bold;"]2. "His Holiness", Pope    Paul VI, did nothing! He took no action. He did not care about the plight of    the poor innocent children one little bit. [/p] [p style="font-weight: bold;"]3. The only action recorded was that the Bishop moved Porter to the Fall River    Diocese, where Porter proceeded to molest and rape 50 more children over the    years he was serving there![/p] 4. Not only did Pope Paul VI know that Porter was raping children, but so did    Fall River Bishop James Connolly and the late Cardinal Humberto Medeiros! Yet,    not one of them ever, ever contacted the police. Not one of them ever took the    common sense step of reassigning "Father" Porter so he could not have    access to children. [/p] It almost seems that Father Porter's superiors have a vested interest in keeping    him supplied with little boys! [/p]  As a matter of fact, sexual perversions --    both heterosexual and homosexual -- have been occurring within the Roman Catholic    priesthood for the past 800 years![/p] However, this kind of protection of offending priests smacks of another angle    -- the protection secret societies have always given    their members![/p]

My grandpa was forced into the german army had an austrian passport and fled. My grandma was in a soviets workers camp for 4 years. My great Aunt was stuck in east germany and snuck under the wall into west germany in the middle of the night avoiding soviet snipers.

Pope John Paul II had an underground movement against the Nazis. And what did this fool do? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. I don't care if he said later in his life that he denounced fascism but the very fact that he did nothing is an insult to my grandparents, the last pope and countless other nazi resistance workers like Dietrich Bonhoeffer.
