Oops!  Those are on my list of edibles, so perhaps I should develop a small temper.
Thousands of years ago cats were worshipped.  They have not forgotten.

Mmmmm avocados.  Yum.  They absolutely have to be buttery ripe....a little salt and pepper....perfection.  Heaven would be throwing it between a couple slices of earthy black bread with some shrimp, cream cheese and alfalfa sprouts,  OMG !!!!!

Well, I do believe avacados have good fats so enjoy one every so often. They're not as buttery as say, eating a stick of butter as 49er pointed out.

 One Avocado has 4 grams of protein, 15 gms carbohydrate and 31 grams of fat. So avocados are mostly fat. However, it is a good fat because avocados contain [A href="vny!://www.dietitian.com/fattyaci.html"]monounsaturated fat [/A](19 gms in 1 avocado) like olive oil and peanut oil.

 So choose avocados like you would any other fat source. If you choose to eat 1/2 avocado per day, you are eating 3 fat servings ([A href="vny!://www.dietitian.com/diabexch.html"]diabetic exchanges[/A]) which should fit in a healthy eating plan. Or you could compare avocados to the [A href="vny!://www.dietitian.com/foodguid.html"]Food Guide Pyramid[/A] where 1 medium avocado is a serving of fruit. Hope this isn't confusing, but depending on how you keep track of your food intake (diabetic exchanges or the food guide pyramid), avocados are one of those foods that could be in either group. I would choose the fat group since fat is the predominant nutrient.

I'd have to say, I never check a graph or chart or a guide to decide what I should eat.....nor do I ever want to get to that point. .  I trust my own instincts over scientists, who continually retract their findings every few months.  What was good for you a few months ago, has now been found to cause tantrums in white mice. (alright, I made that one up)

  If I ever decided to eat all the daily requirements on the Canada Food Guide, I'm sure I'd be 200 lbs. inside of a year.   I know what's good for me, and I know what's bad for me and I choose not to sweat it, if I choose something that's 'not good for me' now and then.  My complexion, my waistline and my energy level are what I use as my 'guide'......and so far it works OK.

Well, the Canadian Food Guide is what it is.... just a guide with recommendations. It doesn't fit everybody but you can modify it so it suits your lifestyle and dietary habits. The best thing to do is to follow your common sense - if it looks big and fatty, cut down your servings. Add more greens whenever possible.

  You can't always ignore the bad food - it's quite ok to indulge in ice cream or cookies every so often. The trick is to know when enough is enough.

  My lifestyle has changed because my husband is diabetic and I have gestational diabetes. It wasn't easy, eating the choices recommended were bland to say the very least but gradually, you can change your eating habit for the better. Not only do you feel good about it at the end of the day but you'll live longer.

Im not a fan of avocado's by themselves. I actually dislike them like that. But in or mixed with something like california rolls or guacamole, I can deal with them.

  Im usually just buying the soup with beef in it to go when i hit a Vietnamese cafe.
