I rarely go to restaurants, so I can't think of a favourite.  There's a Greek restaurant near Kensington on Hastings that has good food.
Thousands of years ago cats were worshipped.  They have not forgotten.

Senior Pique's Mexican restaurant by my house. Its in a cool building but they struggle to get business because its hard to park there. These historic buildings lost parking when they expanded the road. But the place is cool. They play Spanish music videos on LCD screens in the restaurnt. Cool funny atmosphere.

Villa del Lupo!  On Hamilton in Yaletown.  My friend owns it and the food is amazing and the boys love what they do.  Plus I love the fact it's in a heritage house and each floor has it's own atmosphere.  Wine selection is second to none.  I love that place.  Used to practically live there when I lived in the apartments next to it.

Fish N Chips at Pajo's in Steveston is awesome. Hate the line-ups on the weekends but they're so worth it.

Pajo's is great! Good tartar sauce too. What kinda oil though? Trans-fat probably, like everybody.

Lise

Hmmm..... you would probably have to ask them if they have trans-fat in their oil. Most places have them. Yucky.

I know this much, all fast-food stores have trans-fat in their oil. Not one has claimed they don't have it.

Got a flier from Church's recently. They claim that they use this stuff . I've never been to Church's, and I quit going to Kenfrucky's aeons ago, but I might check out Church's fries or something. Are there any horror stories for Church's?

This new oil, which has a unique combination of high oleic
and low linolenic fatty acid content, is defined as containing zero trans fats
and lower saturated fats, making it a healthier choice for foodservice
.

This new canola oil is available in commercial quantities from major oil
suppliers. Dow AgroSciences has developed partnerships with two major oil
processors in Canada. Bunge Canada offers its oil under the brand name of
Nutra-Clear(R) NT. Canbra Foods provides offers its oil under the brand name
of Canola Harvest HiLo(TM). The oil has a unique combination of high oleic
(more than 70 percent) and low linolenic (less than three percent) fatty
acids, giving it outstanding flavour and functional attributes.

Wow Vancouver sounds very eclectic.  Wish where I lived was like that. Instead in the city its italian resturant after italian after italian. And in the suburbs its mexican after mexican after mexican, with a little chain chinese places filled in.  Funny thing is St. Louis area does not have that big of a spanish speaking community. You can't get Univision on free tv  here. Have to get cable. Now across the state in KC they have a huge hispanic community where you can get univision and telemundo. And all they have is BBQ places, so go figure.

Not at this time though they are calling for lower trans fat in cooking these days. Watch out for the issue of trans fat in Canada. It won't be long before we eliminate this harmful (and potentially dangerous) item from our food list.

Trans fat not in Church's Chicken? Wow. That's a first. Maybe I'll try it. I don't really like Church's Chicken because they're way more greasier than what I like on my fried chicken but maybe I'll try them later. Their fries are not bad either.

As a general rule, I would stay away from anything fried because you never know what goes into the oil.
