That's perfectly excusable.

So what are you having for lunch today?

Sardine sandwiches and a dish of rhubarb.

Pea and ham soup with Swiss cheese crackers.

Don't we eat well? Not to mention exotically.

It does sound rather mundane.  But then we can't always expect to dine at the Ritz or its modern equivalent.

And who would want to anyway? Home cooking is not only more economical, it's almost always far more enjoyable.

Sometimes I wish I could be royally pampered, though.  And I wouldn't have to do dishes afterward.

In that case I suggest you have a holiday with some very close friends, not only do they feed you well but they don't let you help with the washing up (in return I provided the ingredients and they did let me cook one meal for them). When they visit Chateau Gopher the roles will be reversed.

My relatives are in N.B., and my close friends live here.  And I'm always expected to pitch in with the dishes.

Please tell them that I insist that you be given a washing-up free year!

I really don't want them to crack their ribs from laughing too hard.

You're always so considerate. I'm going back to work now, enjoy the rest of the day.

Chicklet

I had Salmon and polenta.  I am very full. :D

Chicklet, are you here??

For thou art with me; thy cream and thy sugar they comfort me
Thou preparest a carafe before me in the presence of Juan Valdez
Thou anointest my day with pep; my mug runneth over
Surely richness and taste shall follow me all the days of my life
And I will dwell in the house of coffee forever.
