As I once posted in DV, it obviously serves as a police fly-trap.  Police catch bread-stealers and petty drug dealers (stupid criminals), not pension-stealers and the big-time legal drug pushers, ie pharmaceudical companies (smart criminals).

  DV does have some use.  I've found it helpful for my own data-mining purposes.  DV has confirmed to me that some borderline retards do manage to utilize the internet in rudimentary ways. Some of the stuff written is priceless, especially the mud-flinging sloganeering of rigid-minded ditto-heads.

You know what's really funny Lise?  IP's can be extremely difficult to track down and prove that that ip was indeed the person who posted that topic.  

  What if someone at my work who used the same ip as me decided to post nasty comments?  They would think that that comment came from me.  Yikes, it can get nasty.

  I heard that *true story* some employees at my job got arrested right away because they were foolishly emailing each other with the words b*mb and terr*st attacks and such.  Once in a while, our email systems will scan words and take some action.  Interesting.
