doing 8 to 12 isn't good for high school because that invokes a lot of peer pressure on the 8 to 9th graders. I should know first hand my cousins both got pregnant during that age to older guys because they wanted to fit in the 'in' crowd.  But my middle school was rampent with that stuff too I might add. A 6th grader got pregnant one year and 7th grader the next year. And a group of 6th graders wanted to blow up the school had a hit list of teachers and the school called in the swat police. But of course it didn't get on the news because I lived in the WASP area of the county. Funny cause all the high brow schools were the ones infested with drugs.

Well, I dunno, SD.  Where I grew up it was junior high (grades 7-9) after grammer school, then three-year high school.  It sucked.  My nieces are both in middle school now (grades 6-8) and I can see that their reality is a lot different.  Of course, they're in an upper middle-class suburb with very protective parents--but my junior high was right next to a university campus, so most of us were profs kids or had professional parents who had high expectations of us.  The thing I found difficult is that the 14-year-olds can seriously bully a lot of the prepubescent 7th- and 8th-graders.  I played sports, and the girls' teams didn't separate us out into grades like the boys teams, so I saw this on the field a lot--and in the hallways where younger guys were getting their asses kicked by 9th-grade thugs.  14-year-olds belong in high school.  Plus, junior highs are just like small high schools with cheerleaders and pep rallies, crap like that--I'm under the impression that middle schools don't bother with that stuff.  Plenty of time for that rah-rah bullshit in high school.

Okay here's an example I was a year older then everybody in my grade (now I'll most likely be 3 to 4 years older when I go to university but oh well it doesn't matter anymore, Jesus lived with his mom until he was 30)

6th Grade 12 turning 13   Mostly everybody was 11- turning 12 a girl got pregnant at 12 at my middle school the boyfriend was in high school

7th Grade  13 turning 14 Girl got pregnant during this year also the guy was out of high school.

8th Grade: 14 turning 15

Freshman 15 turning 16

Sophmore 16 turning 17

Junior 17 turning 18

Senior 18 turning 19

Now when I was at my last high school my senior year I was 18 turning 19.  The freshman class was mostly turning 14 or 15. Now if 8th grade was part of high school (which it was when I was in kindergarten) 13 year olds would be in a high school setting.  I know seniors who date freshmans. 19 year olds should not be dating 14 year olds.  I have a friend who is in college and he's dating a 16 year old and he has been doing so for 2 years!

Well, it was a really nice ceremony and I'm now the proud parent of a 7th grader. They put together a great video featuring all the kids (about 60 kids from 3 classes) and played it at the end of the graduation. They served soda pop, cake and other goodies to the survivors afterwards.

My son's mom showed up shortly after I did, and the grimace on her face when she saw me was just about what I expected. She congratulated our son afterwards blah blah and then dashed to her truck and left without spending a minute more there than she had to.

We hung around for a while, snarfed up some cake and cookies, said goodbye to a bunch of his classmates and friends and then headed out ourselves.

Anyway, I'm off to do some naughty things tonight so I'll catch up with you all later. Have a great evening!

I had Jackie Joyner-Kersee speak at my 5th grade graduation.  She was a nieghbour to somebody in my class.

She must be super crazy. But I know how you feel. My Aunt is like that too, her kids were the ones that got pregnant in high school. She's a complete loon.  She's in her 50's where's g-string thong low riders (she's an elementary school teacher) asks for money all the time, got a boob job and liposuction. Basically ruined my cousins life by forcing boyfriends on them at around 10.  Result my cousin is an emotional wreck and my other cousin is just lost.

Congrats to you and your son, TehBorken. That was pretty nasty of your ex to say that. What a b......h. Anyways, here's hoping you had a good time at the graduation.
Always end the name of your child with a vowel, so that when you yell the name will carry.

I had a great time, it was a ton of fun and I wouldn't have missed it for anything.

Congrats TehBorken....and of course to TehBorken Jr.

These are the things that your son will form his own opinions on when he is older....not what someone TOLD him to think.  He will know who was there for him and who wasn't.  Kids aren't stupid....and learn a whole lot more through example and action.

Good job !!!![img style="CURSOR: pointer" onclick=url(this.src); src="vny!://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/more/bigs/a194.gif" border=0]
