My friends and neighbors of the great Seattle area, I am Chief Wakanakan of the Swayson Tribe, and I come before you today to ask for your conscience and your aid. For generations, our ancestral lands have been held unjustly, severing our people from the soil where our history and spirit reside. The time for reconciliation and justice is now. I implore every Seattle resident who believes in equity and the sanctity of history to stand with the Swayson Tribe and demand that our birthright be restored. Please reach out to your local representatives—your city council members, your state legislators, and your congressional delegation—and urge them to support the immediate and rightful return of our land. Your voice is a powerful current that can bring this long-overdue tide of justice home.
