I think the one in the picture here will work for me. I can use it for when I drywall plus a quick heat up the inside of the boat as its only 10 min ride

I agree, for what you use it for, it will work. The battery run time is a good feature. For your double use, where you can plug it into 110VAC, it will work perfect (I find I need those now to justify to SS. Not that I won't buy what I want regardless but I have to figure in the attitude and lack of sex for a few days).
Plus the bonus, its portable so it doesn't have to be marine certified. Just deny ever using it, and if anything happens.. say you were just transporting it in your boat.


Im still going to get the two green propane tank unit from cabella's now cause looks like its in stock. Don't know why zodi stopped offering them. The only units they offer now are 1500 bucks, fawk!
Did you know (disclaimer; not that I have ever been a part of, done this, or condone nor encourage in any way, shape, or form) that you can refill the green 1 lb bottles? That's the main reason they have that 'green key' campaign now.


Get a refill adaptor (apparently illegal in canada, but you can buy from online and have it shipped to canada no problem). Warm up a 20lb propane bottle (with the LPG you are filling from), put your 1lb bottles you are filling in your freezer. They will fill then to proper level without overfilling. Turn the 20lb upside down(liquid on bottom, gas on top) and and open valve for less than a minute.

Just thought about something, not that it probably matters. But dont some of those small heaters like that have a shutoff feature if they tip over? Wonder if it does, how it will work with a boat pounding through the waves, as it constantly goes off axis?

Im going. Dont know which day though, as it's dependant on my brothers schedule.
I REALLY wanted to go to the seattle one.


Reason I wanted to go.. things are a hell of a lot cheaper. If you want to buy a boat..  If I were you, hold off till next year and go down to teh seattle boatshow. Buy it there. The dealers selling there will know how to get your boat accross easily. Plus boats are super easy. You can show up with the boat at the border with no advance notice. The seattle boatshow was catering to canadians coming down to buy boats.. cause its so much cheaper.

I went. According to my brother who went with me, the Vancouver one was better than the seattle one. There was more things to look at accessory wise for your boat.. the one in Seattle was apparently mostly boats.. and they really catered to Canadians going down to buy boats.


Friends of my wifes went to the boat show looking for boats. They wanted a 16/17 foot runabout with outboard on a trailer. Think they were quoted around 18k. They are now in contact with a dealer down in Oregon.. no tax when you buy. The same/ simliar boat is fully loaded with all the little knick knacks for around 14k, and they deal with Canadians alot so they know how to do the proper paperwork for the border. Wifey said they are going to make a weekend out of it, go down and spend weekend down, come back on Sunday paperwork in hand.

I just bought a Fire Suppression system for my engine room.

Its a C2G 200 cubic foot one. More than enough for my compartment. Its fully automatic, which is good but not manual as well. It was on sale for half price so I cant complain too much I guess. I just now have to have some way to shut off my vents  into my engine compartment to make it almost airtight so it will actually put out a fire and not blow the fire agent out when its activated.


I bought a Propane sensing system and solenoid shutoff. Big safety thing for boats. Most people overlook this. When I was looking over my boat, I realized it didnt have proper propane safety.. back when it was built that wasnt important I guess. No way to secure propane tanks, and its not an enclosed area with a vent overboard for the compartment. Its right under my command bridge controls... which has electrical.. gives off a small spark if the propane is leaking.. oops.

This has a solenoid which will auto shutoff the propane if it senses any leaks. I can hook up two sensors.. one is going by my stove. And the other will go near a heating system I will install at a later date.


Bought some Fire detectors.




And just bought a liferaft yesterday. It was craigslist.. bit older but it was cheap cheap. Needs a recertification and testing by the manufacturer. Hope it wont be too much to fix, but will be cheaper than the 4-5k for a new one!
