Save-on-Meats is one of the last businesses standing from the glory days of Hastings Street downtown. Its neon sign — two flying pigs holding money bags that read "$," separated by a three-storey high revolving bit that reads "$ave-on" on one side, "Meat$" on the flip — is a beloved Vancouver icon. But just as the Woodward's redevelopment is set to open and Hastings Street may enjoy a commercial renaissance, it may be closing.[/p]Owner Al DesLauriers is 78, and wants to retire. Well, it's a marked improvement from $750 a week.

We were at $322.09 on Jan 30....but did a goodly shop on the 31st to round out the month at $425.37  It will be better to get an average over a few months to know the real story...but I don't see it being more.

I include cleaners, TP, shampoos and conditioners, bar mix and a few other non-food necessities in my grocery total.

This week will be 59 bucks in food, except I've got to get something at chapters and future shop on friday, so it'll probably be 80.

Then next week is Seattle...  So I'll spend something there.
