I sometimes think that this is the way it goes.

The mother of a female child often gets along well with son-in-law....but the father often thinks NOBODY is good enough for his little girl.

The mother of a male child often does NOT get along well with the wifey....nobody is good enough to take her place.....but the father often thinks son is lucky to have the younger version of who he married 20+ years ago.

I'm with Russ on this one.  No in-laws yet but we get along really well.  Both ways. :)

ADD:  Ooops, just realized that the question is if anyone doesn't get along with their in-laws....sorry PC.  I answered.

Whatever, you guys don't get it. If you can't read your parents growing up, or see how other people in the family treat your grandparents, I don't see the difference. This isn't an exclusive group in my opinion.

Me too, Russ.  I don't get it.  It might be time to change my contact lenses.

The way you the parents react to the inlaws, your kids pick it up. Kids see everything. So when one aunt is abusive to your grandparents, you see it (if you are the grandchild) and it affects you. My cousins have no real use for my family or Oma because of how their mother (my aunt) treated us. Your relationship with the inlaws affects your kids.

I still don't get it.  Gawd, I hope my prescription doesn't increase.  It's bad as it is.

I understood you perfectly, SD.

Even though your relationship with your Oma and your abusive aunts have nothing to do with the question.  I think most of us know that our relationships with our parents and inlaws has an affect on our children.

Ah, well that's what I was trying to say. When ever these relationship questions pop up on here, I always take the kids point of view of how they see things. Since I'm considered the silly kid on here. lol ;)
