Just call Russ and get him to come to your place. I'm sure he can help you out there, purelife. My aunt, she has this banged up old car but she swears that the one at BCIT is the best because they let you off easy. She went to the one on Main Street and they failed her so she went to the BCIT and they passed her.

You'll be glad to know that they're talking about taking AirCare off sometime in the future.
Always end the name of your child with a vowel, so that when you yell the name will carry.
I see blue smoke in my exhaust when I start my engine. Is this anything I should worry about?
Yes, because your engine is burning oil. That, in turn, means your engine has worn valve guides, piston rings An engine that burns a lot of oil (more than a quart in 500 miles) is an engine that needs to be overhauled. Normal oil consumption should be a quart or less in 1500 miles. Most newer engines consume less than half a quart of oil between oil changes (every 3000 miles). So if your engine is burning oil, it's essentially worn out and needs to be repaired.

purelife - I hope you don't mind but I asked the crowd at DATW about passing AirCare. Seems like an interesting topic. Anyways, ignore the rantings by HomoDave and Ralph Klein... there's some decent suggestions.

Thank you Lise.  I really appreciate that.  *bless*  I didn't even think about posting there.  That was very thoughtful and nice of you. :)))

I should take some time off to visit my mechanic soon to have him check out the cause of the blue smoke.  It's odd that it doesn't happen all the time though.

Thanks 49er for posting up that link.  That helps me with the terminology to use with my Mechanic.  Do you (or anyone else) know if those are expensive to fix?  The vavles and rings?

Ah geez..... sorry, purelife but when I went to check on the link it's full of *cough cough*. I'm sad to say that it's gone downhill. Well, at least the first page has some good tips.

It's okay Lise.  That's to expect over at DATW.

It usually a good idea to have a guy w/ you when you take your car in to the mechanic.......the valves and rings are inside the engine block, so it's going to be expensive.  One way of finding out is call the local car dealer and ask for the service dept.  They can give you an estimated cost (on the high side)
