Which/where is your favorite buffet?

Yummm

The [a href="vny!://www.yelp.com/biz/PyPNYh4L74NUXUQUtQjVnA"]Super China buffet[/a] in Shoreline on Aurora at ~155th. It's next to/across from the Sears. Huge selection, good food.

Whereabout are you talking? Seattle? Then I dunno but in BC, my favorite all time Japanese Buffet is [A href="vny!://www.fishonricejapanesecuisine.com/"]Fish On Rice[/A], on Kingsway.

For Indian, it has to be [A href="vny!://www.samosagarden.com/"]Samosa Garden[/A], also on Kingsway.

Hmm

BC doesn't have many non asian buffets. For western buffets you have to travel to the US.  We used to go to the Country Time Buffet in Bellis Fair.

Not true. If you want really good Western style buffet, you can try [A href="vny!://www.fairmont.com/hotelvancouver/GuestServices/Restaurants/Griffins.htm"]Griffins[/A] over at the Fairmont Hotel. The Sunday Brunch is really good if you don't mind spending $32 per person.

I actually think Uncle Willy's (Nelson Ave) in Metrotown isn't too shabby. Yeah, I know, I know... only people who no taste buds go there but it's surprisingly not bad for their dinner menu. You get roast chicken, beef, ham and really fresh veggies.

Another one to try is Urban Buffet on Homer Street. While it has a lot of Chinese food, there is also some Western food there. I don't really like Urban Buffet as I feel Chinese food should come steaming hot to your plate and not sit under the hot lamps all day but it's cheap and most folks I know don't mind it.

I really have to question your taste buds, do you smoke by chance?  Uncle Willies?  OMG.  All that trans fat and unhealthy [processed] food not to mention how it is handled and prepared.  Gag!

I havent been to Griffins for Sunday Brunch but all hotel buffets are horribly overpriced and a total rip off and it's not even worth mentioning at all...hotel buffets are a moot point.  However, I have been to Griffins for dinner and I agree, not many buffets in town.  The only half decent one is River Rock.  I also have been to a LOT of  Las Vegas Buffet over the years so I know what a buffet is suppose to be like and how much it should cost.

I dont agree

Griffins is not technically a buffet.  It's also crap but not as bad as Uncle Willy's.  Griffins  have a very tiny seafood bar and cake/desert bar.  It is also not very good.  I have an Entertainment Coupon from them and I don't go any more.  Several years ago the Richmond Inn had a decent Sunday Brunch for around $20 but not any more.  Western Buffets in Metro Vancouver are all but extinct.

I have a rule, never to eat at buffets.  They encourage you to eat too much to get your money's worth.  That is why I will never stay at the Four Seasons in Whistler again.  I asked for a menu of room service for breakfast, but they don't have room service for breakfast you had to go to their $50. breakfast buffet.

Lise

No, seriously, Uncle Willy's isn't that bad. The vegetables are fresh, I was quite surprised and they have roast chicken straight from the ovens. I'm not defending and urging everyone to go try it, I'm just saying that it's not bad for the price you pay.

Now all the old folks will make me their leader for saying that....!

Uhm, Michel... I've never heard of Shoney? What is that?

The Griffins Restaurant has the Sunday Brunch that is buffet style. It is the only time they serve buffet there. It's weird because most ppl I know love going there but I supposed it depends on what you like really.

JJ's right. Buffets are so bad for you. Sometimes I feel like a pig at a communal trough but I can't help it. It's where you go with families who can't decide what they want to eat. [/DIV]

With the exception of Vegas, I would never eat in a hotel, especially not at Whistler.  You have IGA, McD's, lots of places you can get a quick bite or stock up the night before. Americans are big on buffets and they really know how to do them, that's why they are so overweight.

I do know what you mean about eating at buffets but if it's a one time thing, you won't need to worry about it.  While in Mexico, we have buffets and for the first day our eyes were bigger than our stomachs but afterwards, we adjusted quite nicely and ate what we want. The same with on a cruise, they have phenominal food there. While on a cruise,  most of the time we had a 3 course meal as opposed to a buffet primarily because the quality was a little better but we probably ate just as much as we would've at a buffet.

Buffets allow one to sample everything and therefore, give you variety, selection, and choice.

hmm

Lise, how long ago were you at Uncle Willy's in Metroscum?
