I'm wondering if anyone can offer me any advice on what to pack for a preschool? I've gotten nothing from the preschool place, dunno what to pack? Snack-wise? Do I need to buy pencils or pens or whatever? I'm so clueless......

Halp! Anyone here remember what they did with their young ones?
Always end the name of your child with a vowel, so that when you yell the name will carry.

Hi Lise!  Let's see if I can remember...

A little snack (small container with a bit of fruit, crackers, cheese, etc.).

We packed a labelled spare change of clothes (underwear, socks, everything) and left it at school in case there was an "accident" or the child fell in a mud puddle sometime during the year.

Some schools want an extra set of clean shoes or slippers left at school to be worn as "indoor only" shoes.

School supplies are usually provided by the school.

But don't worry, they will give you info about everything as soon as school starts.  How exciting that Lise Jr is going to preschool!

(When my oldest kid started kingergarten, i laughed out loud at the parent orientation; they asked for a SMALL healthy snack the kid could eat by themselves- ie no big oranges that needed to be peeled by an adult, NO DRINKS PLEASE, and make sure all the shoes were velcro or slip-on unless the kid knew how to tie laces....)

Never sent my kids to preschool Lise.....but I would suggest a fun day shopping to let her pick out her own little back pack.....and a special 'school pal'.  (stuffed animal or tiny toy)  Or if she has a favourite 'blanky' or toy.  Maybe even something of yours to keep in her pack to remind her that you're close by.  A picture of mom, dad and baby sis to keep in one of the back pack pockets maybe?

As far as snacks, I think most places offer snacks.....but if they don't, probably carrot sticks, granola bars, nutritious snacky stuff would be good.

I'm sure they will send home a note, or contact you to let you know what you will need.

Here are some snacks that EVERYONE loved. If you had them, people envied you during break. Notice how all of these are fun to play with, and unhealthy:
- Dunkaroos (this is #1) - put as much or as little frosting as you want
- Fruit-by-the-foot - dangle this out of your mouth
- pop rocks - dump all of it in your mouth and listen :)
- (small) container of pringles chips - you can make the 'duck' by sticking 2 chips in your mouth at the same time

No kid likes eating granola bars / oranges all the time, these are nice for a change.. not too often though (maybe your kid will even say "mommy I love you!" when they see these snacks hahaha)

I'm not too familiar with what you pack here in terms of pencils, pens, etc. Never been to one.

LOL Marik !

I have my doubts that the preschool teacher wants to deal with kids who have just scarfed down a box of sugar.

What Lil Me said is what I would say.

I just wanted to add not to bring anything with nuts in it unless you are told by the teacher that it's ok.  I know that if there is one child who is allergic to nuts, nobody else is allowed to bring food with nuts or nuts alone.

Definitely, extra clothing, especially pants.  Bring rainboots and extra pair of shoes/socks.  Some preschools request an "inside" shoe and an "outside" shoe.  So, you might need to buy one just to keep in her preschool.  Some preschools provide their own snacks and meals.  Definitely, all preschools have their own supplies, ie books, paints, crayons, toys, etc.

  Hope this helps.

A gun, a knife, 2 days supply of water, bug spray, and condoms (girls have cooties!) Don't forget to pack some extra ammo and a snack.

The real trouble with reality is that there's no background music.

Funny, funny, TehBorken. Remind me never to pack you into my lunch box.
