Does anyone know how I can get rid of baby stuff? Like the crib? Apart from selling on craigslist (don't really like the idea as there are weirdoes out there) and garage sale... how does one get rid of baby stuff like cribs and what-have-you-not and get money in return? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Without posting it on Craigslist....or anything else of the same like.....perhaps a table at one of the local flea markets?

Every 6 months, Bonsor holds a Swap Meet.  The next one is in October.  So, you could try other swap meets as well because I've seen a few on the City of Burnaby website.  You could call the swap meet location and rent a table.

You could also post ads around the Recreation Centres/Community Centres/Libaries.

Morning missy Lise, PL, PC..

Um, I would still suggest Craigslist, and vet the people before you agree to meet them. I actually dont have people come to my house when I sell stuff. I meet them at a local gas station close by here, then let them look and buy it if they want. But I go through a couple of email screenings first before I do, and tell them if they dont show up dont bother calling and saying some lame excuse. I made the damn effort so can you.

I did think about craigslist. I've managed to sell my xbox games twice but not really it's kinda scary when it comes to baby stuff. Not sure how to approach this as I'm not able to physically carry baby stuff off and show them. Then if they're not interested where does that leave me?

Anyways, I'll think about the Bonsor Swap Meet. It's usually pretty positive. Thanks everyone!

No oxes in the family Lise?
I'd go to the swap thing. Sounds like the better option.

     Oxes? What does that mean?

I've got no one to hand my crib down and I doubt my kids will appreciate me keeping the crib and baby stuff when it's their turn. Probably will go 'eeeewww.... mom, they're sooooo out-of-date' or something like that.

I will think about the swap thing. The only problem is finding time to do it. With two young ones, I'm not sure I have the time. Still it's one option.

Phew. For a moment, I thought you were referring if I had cows in the family. I thought someone told me I was a farmer and I didn't know about it.......

LOL
no no, when something needs to be moved in my family, cousins and I come to the rescue. Last time we did something I pushed my cousins camaro up onto a trailer because it broke down.

Always meet them in a public place. Never give 'em your home address if you find them from craigslist or some other classifieds.

Maybe send an email listing prices, descriptions, photos of the items to any people you know with young families.  My friend who moves all the time does that with her furniture and whatnot, and it all sells.

Hi Lise,

I once sold everything (all kids stuff) I brought in 2.5 hrs, in Killarney regular flea market. Probably because there wasn't anyone with kids stuff (no competitor), but I find it a bit hard to do that alone, as when I get to bring things in and out, no one watch the table (other table/seller were friendly enough to watch my stuff too). I planned to share a table with raerae at Bonsor, but we were too late to register.

I also did few families garage sale at my sis-in-laws home (their home is more accessible by families compare to mine). There were 5 families including me that get together, and all selling kids stuff (as it was at my in-laws home, they get to sell all the stuff they want to sell not just kids stuff). My sis-in-law put advertisement on the local newspaper and her internet 'group'. She mentioned because it was 'few families', people knows that they have wider range of choices. Some people pass by 15 minutes before our 'opening' hour!
