@Natasha. I don't really get interested in girls at first glance per say; at least not in the way the shallow friends look at the opposite sex. I also don't get out a lot, so I'm more interested in networking, creating contacts and having fun over scouting for poutine. I'm notorious for not asking for numbers, or randomly starting conversations with people, who then in turn get my friend's number because "I came here to look at Rembrandt---not the inseam of your pants."
My otherness got the attention of a girl a couple of years ago - who out of frustration with me, I think, went for the guy who spoke 7 languages, knew how to salsa (compared to my interpretative dance of salsa), among other things. She then went on to date 5 guys at once.
I would be dating someone right now had it not have been for my looming geographical displacement that I knew was coming in the summer of '09. It wasn't as if I was going away for a month or two, and I didn't want to have someone putting their life on hold for me, not knowing when I'd be back, etc. Regardless, the girl in question is better of with the guy she's with now. I talk to this girl in question every day though, good friend.
