I'm not denying growth is going to happen, it's the sprawling neighbourhoods that I don't like and nobody should. Smart growth, why does every new neighbourhood have to be sprawled out? Why can't we go back to pre World War II design of our neighbourhoods where instead of it being about a house, it was about building a community.
One of the best quotes I've ever read about house building/community was in this new urbanism book. I don't have the quote off hand, but it was something like 'we build the greatest homes in the world, so exceptionally well that we never have to leave the home, we have everything. The problem is we now build these mansions in the middle of nowhere and since we never leave our home, we don't know our neighbours or community.'
