I think this dude said it best. Typical. He blames the mods for not doing a good job then feels sorry (a little too late for that). I told you, he blames EVERYONE but himself.

You have to look at this from the perspective of people who have never seen the site.  This was an opportunity for "Mr. business"  to market the crap out of this place and really talk about what free speech means and why this site is a great place to occassionally check out, despite the increasingly frequent morons.  Instead he sounded uniformed at best and booooring at worst. He had the opportunity to attract even more people and make more money and instead he probably caused more suicides than 3 DV's could ever prevent!

Hmm, they haven't banned me. They can if they want.  

  I don't feel sorry for Mike at all.  He is one of the most unprofessional, sleezy, cheeky, irresponsible, cold-hearted, materialisitc SOB that I've met.  I have NO sympathy for him.  

  I wish that that site would just die. Yes, it is cruel of me to wish that but I'm fed up.  The best decision I've made was to disassociate myself from that DV.  It used to affect me emotionally, especially when I was modding and felt SO helpless that I couldn't do anything about some of the issues that has arisen.  And Mikey didn't give a DAMN F*CK!

Actually purelife, if you read two pages back, PC posted the link first then I copied it onto DS. I also wrote about why I quit and Mike's response to my comments. You need to go back a few pages.

  I'm not sure if DV should be shut down. Despite the inept and unprofessional atittude of Mike, I feel the site could improve and it should stay up. He really should do something drastic about damage control - abeit it being a little too late.

  I am hoping (against all hope) that DV will get better after going through this.

  Wonder how does dogmeat feel about the whole situation?

I don't think it should be shut down (not that my opinion means squat), but personally I think DV ought to be cleaned up a bit. I've no problem with a site exactly like DV going on forever, with all the hate and trolling it can stand, but for a "tourism" information site it sure as hell gives prospective visitors the wrong idea of what Vancouver is really like.

If I was from elsewhere and was considering going to Vancouver for vaction, the minute I hit that board I'd dump the idea and look for another place to go. True. It may have started off that way but it got bought out by Mike whose priorities run elsewhere so he let it go the way it went. There's no excuse for it and I think he'll forever be associated with DV and all that bad rap.

  You're right about the integrity thing, TB. As a spokesperson for promoting Vancouver, it certainly falls on the administrator to "clean up" his act and take responsibility.

[FONT face=Verdana size=2]That sounds somewhat familiar.....like my very first post on DV.  As a matter of fact, that's exactly what I went there for, was to look for hotels etc.  (not that I don't know Van, I lived there most of my life).  I was pretty shocked that this stuff was connected to a tourism site.  Anyways, I was flamed until I came out charred.   Shredded underwear.[/FONT]

 I used to post on DV over a year ago and recognize a lot of the handles on DS.  I just recently came back to DV within the past month or so.  

  Correct me if I'm wrong, but many of you were former Mods or at least "up there" on DV.  What happened?  Why did you all flee to DS?  The reason why I think it might be helpful to give Cliff's Notes version of what happened is that some of you risk appearing disloyal to DV without giving an explanation to those of us who are oblivious to the DV politics.  I'm sure this is not the case, as you guys have probably explained yourself before, but I don't know where to look it up.
