[SPAN class=corusNewsArticleText]If you idle you pay,
that's according to a bylaw change approved by Vancouver City Council this morning.
The Vancouver transportation and traffic committee unanimously approved changes to the current bylaw, which would ban idling in Vancouver.[/SPAN]
[SPAN class=corusNewsArticleText]
The new bylaw allows officers to give 50 dollar fines for people idling more than three minutes within an hour.
Sean Pander with the city sustainability group says the new bylaw is about encouraging people to reduce their emissions.
".....our hope is the public education works and people are aware again of the myths around vehicle idling that they'll want to stop idling"
He adds officers will only give warnings to people who are caught idling for the first six months.[/SPAN]
