Good afternoon everyone.  OMG, just had my 3 wisdom teeth removed this morning.  I started taking these meds that my Dr prescribed yesterday and had a fever.  It wasn't fun at all last night feeling cold and then extremely hot.  I'm glad that I have my teeth out.  Two out of 3 needed stitching and the other one took a few seconds of yanking.  I didn't too much.  I was surpised how quickly my third one came out compared to the other two.  He did a great job.  Now, I'm sucking on these yoghurt tubes thingee and my mouth is still VERRRRRRRRRRRRY swollen and still bleeding..

Our friend and my b/f are totally making fun of my speech right now.  I sound really retarded. :P

Sportsdude

Hey purelife. I'm glad you had your extractions out. Hang in there, it can only get better. Take the painkilers as needed and don't rinse your mouth rigiously with water or salt for a couple of hours.

I had to take soup for the first two days. No biggie. The disgusting part is after the holes have healed and then you get food stuck in them.

How did you clean the holes?

Lise

I stole a syringe from work, it had a curved tip so I could suck water in and then squirt it out into the holes. It work quite nicely but if you don't have one, not to worry, just rinse gently for a few minutes. Should work.

How are you feeling now? Groggy?

I had my wisdom teeth taken out a couple years ago while my mom and sis went to Oregon to visit family and my dad misread directions given to him by the doctor and all I ate for 2 weeks was mash potatoes, apple sauce and pudding.  Needless to say I lost a lot of weight. lol

Funny, I was able to eat normally within two days.

Same with my sister. My dad misread 2 days with 2 weeks.

Feeling very swollen around my face/chin area.  I feel kinda drowsy.  And I'm getting picked on really bad.  :P  LOL.

Lise

Did they give you cold compression? I usually have two ice packs ready in the fridge. Just take one out, wrap in towel and press against face. Do it for a couple of hours. The swelling should go down soon. Oh and Advil helps too.... but if you're taking Tylenol 3, check with dentist before taking Advil.

Are the holes permanant Lise?  What does the stitching do?  Seals the hole?

Sportsdude

the stitches are there to heal your holes. Your mouth has to heal..

Lise

Nope. Holes are not permanent. After awhile, they'll smooth over and you won't even feel anything. In some people there might be a sligh depression but that's about it.

The stiching is to close up the hole and help the healing process faster. Depending on what stiching he used, it should either dissolve with time or you need to go back to get them remove. Either way, they're there to close up the wound so you won't get any  major bleeding.
