Went to this zagat rated japanese place in the 'Cambie village' where one piece of sushi is 3.50...

I cheated the place and got chicken udon and bbq eggplant for 12. I think I got the better deal.

Weird 'village'; I can't believe my buddy and I seriously thought about living there.

This is bad. Im from vancouver and dont have a clue what cambie village you are talking about SD. Was the sushi good at least? I find for sushi places now, we usually head to Kingsway Sushi on Boundary and Kingsway, Richmond Sushi, and I think its Denman Sushi near Robson and Denman. Although we tend to avoid the downtown place more than we used to for my truck is hard to find parking for, and Starfishie sold her car. Then told me.

Lunch was better than normal. I guess its cause the Italiens are gone now. LOL, every spread doesnt have two pasta dishes as a minimum.

Rigatoni, served with chili sauce and beef. I used half a beef bovril packet to boil it in. When finished topped with Chili sauce some rendered hamburger fat and the other half of the bovrel packet give it a stir let sit for a couple of minutes to cool serve topped with meat sauce. or just as it is with steamed vegies.

I didn't have the sushi, as I thought that was a waste of money. I've had better food. [p class="MsoNormal"][span lang="EN-GB"]My favourite place is the Denman sushi, too; but I don't really see the point to sushi places unless it's all  you can eat (which this place wasn't). 'Cambie Village' is an 'up and coming' neighbourhood at the edge of  Mt Pleasant (around City Hall) that corporate business and condo developers  are pushing on people these days as 'hip' so they can charge you 1800 a month for a  two and a half bedroom basement suite; and then 2200 for the first floor for 'mid 30s young professionals' (living the dream!).[/span][/p][p class="MsoNormal"][span lang="EN-GB"] It's all of Cambie Street from 2nd Ave to  King Edward. You might also know the 'village' as the place where business  owners sued and won against Translink for tearing up the street and running  them out of business during the construction of the Canada Line.

The problem with the 'village' is that it's a corporate place that is  riddled with those 'newly built in this decade concrete-glass condos'. These condos  completely ruin neighbourhoods because their 'mixed use' philosophy kills off any restaurant life as the building itself increases the retail rent  value. The higher the rent for a retail space, the less you'll see in ethnic  restaurants and eclectic places of interest which make Vancouver what it is; and the  more you'll see of banks, corporate chains and high end chain restaurants  (RBC, BMO, CIBC; Starbucks, Shoppers, IGA; Miletone's, Earl's, Cactus Club) that are usually the only forms of retail that can usual afford the rent. Basically,  'Cambie Village' is Vancouver neoliberal development in a nutshell. [/span][/p][p class="MsoNormal"][span lang="EN-GB"]Good that you stay to places on  the Eastside, the only place that still has character. By 2020 Vancouver  will have priced itself out of existence through gentrification and killed  whatever had made it great, that most young and hip places will probably be located in  Burnaby or New West. I'm pretty convinced that the basement suite culture in  Vancouver, which young people will have to subject themselves to -well  into their mid-30s and early 40s - can be stomached for too much longer. Projections  in 2050 suggest that the city's average age will be in the 50-60s. So the  basement culture = no kids, but you're already seeing that within this province; as today, more people are being accepted into a BC university or college than graduating from high school.

Mcdonald's for breakfast, but nothing for lunch,
and I'm way too tired to try for a brunch.

Must have been my short 3 paragraph blurb that did it. I was wondering why nobody had posted after me.

Well, Lunch was pasta, chicken cordon bleu type with a bunch of other stuffs in there as well? Steak, salad, and french fries wth option of rice.

Dinner was a big bbq.. which of course due to my shift I slept through, lol. I am disappointed I missed it.

Such is life Russ, Sorry you slept through the BBQ but when one works strange days and strange hours or unusual hours like we do, well things like that happen. ..

I am contemplating Megabyte Pizza for Lunch/Dinner. combo. There is better food I just do not know what I want to do yet. I am as of yet still undecided. I may just save my money and go for sushi tomorrow instead, While I settle for some oven baked crispy chicken. Alas I have no flour but I do have cornflakes, the lack of flour will make the breading and egg mixture not stick to well. I think the chicken will be rather tame lacking flour to mix the spices. What a conundrum..

I decided on the Oven baked chicken. I used the hot sauce and butter to coat the chicken. I suppose I could of used the eggs. With out flour, but why waste a perfectly good egg. The chicken took some marinating 1/2 an hour before I rolled it in the cornflakes.

The coating did not stick that well,  I will have to see how well the chicken comes out in 45 minutes. I think it is not going to urn out to well. Well fingers crossed,  worst case scenario I peel the coating off and turn the chicken in to a chicken salad sandwich instead.

Well time to go see how well it has turned out or how bad it is.. Fingers crossed.

   Edit.

The time is now 5:07 PM. The Chicken was slightly disappointing. The breading did not stick well. It stayed in the pan. I peeled off the coating and used the thighs to make 3 subs instead. One for dinner today. The left overs for lunch tomorrow,  I must remember to pick up some more all purpose flour tomorrow, so this does not happen again.
