Good job Russ !

I'm still doing kitchen stuff too.  Finished the grouting tonight.  Next?  New counters !!!

We're eating take-out right now.....kitchen is seriously tied up....LOL

we are redoing a side of the basement into a suite, and installing kitchen stuff there as well. Did the plumbing of natural gas into where the stove will be, kinda got a layout of where the cabinets and rest of the stuff will be. We were looking at Ikea the other day and stole some of their ideas for cabinets and we think we will be getting a few of their cabinets to add to the ones we want to do. They have cheap crap counter tops, so we want to see about getting some stuff thats the basics off them, then have our own marble counter tops put on. The idea so far is also to have an island come out to give it the new touchy feely hippy look and stick the dishwasher and compacter under there.

So far.. subject to change. lol.

Hullo miss PC! Good evening...

Sounds good! Its funny how great minds think alike hey? Or is it fools seldom differ? Hmm....

Hey, when you do your tiling, you use the comb like spade to put the backing down then stick the tiles down.. but what are you using for your spacing? I think I might have asked you but Im forgetful... I tend to use toothpicks, rather than the storebought plastic things.

Sounds awesome Russ.  IKEA has some fabulous ideas.  My taste isn't for the contemporary, but they do it so well, that it STILL catches my eye.

Careful with marble or granite countertops.  They look spectacular, but are nasty in function.  Marble is very pourous and both are highly suseptible to stains.  Red wine glass ring?  Forget it....it's there forever. Granite even gets water rings.

I've done a heap o tiling, and have gotten pretty good at eye-balling it.  I used to use the criss-cross spacers, but I don't use them at all any more.
