Like the whole court. Best of all was being quiet in the middle of the countryside, in congenial company with no demands made upon me whatsoever. I could live with that sort of life (in the meantime I live with the one I've got).

It would be nice to alternate lifestyles in order to appreciate both the simple life and the lavish.

Oh, I don't know. I've always liked being away from it all- hardly lavish. Then again, I have recollections of being a teenager in similar circumstances where the stimulation for a week could be watching a horse walk past the window; but by and large, yes I like the idea of rural living (as long as it's within fairly easy access of a medium sized town).

I prefer being in a town with conveniences at hand. Living alone is good, but if there's a health problem it's good to be close to resources when needed.

I said nothing about living alone. There will be servants and handmaidens of course.

A housekeeper once a week would be useful, but anything beyond that would feel overcrowded. Perhaps a chef when I grow old.

Well, it's a very, very small apartment. Maybe they could sleep in alternating shifts.

To avoid damaging theer sensitive hands, they could save their paycheques and buy me a mansion. A small one, though.

Things get worse. Do you mean to tell me that you are going to PAY them ? I would have thought that they would pay you for the privilege of serving to expand the magnificence of your aura.
