       Governments have to make them upgrade. But when one party is controlling the government on all levels and that party is controlled by big business and oil, well nothing will change.

Yes its a car culture but then all big countries are because they have to be.  I have wished and wished we become some day more like Europe with the high speed trains and small cars that get 50 mpg , and public transportation that rivals London but alas that day is gone.
