I was on the island busy busy with teh fence at my parents. Got alot done.. then Starfishie showed up, we loaded up my parents camper van, and headed to a bunch of backroads and lakes behind Woss.. towards Port Hardy.

Weekend was good - lots of outdoor activities with kidlets.

There are some neat places back there.  I did a stint on northern van isle drove most of the roads.  Very cool caves and holes etc ...

First part of the week was good - lined up work till new years and maybe well beyond!!

They are not all that attractive but if you ever want a ton of stuff moved - camels are your beast of burden of choice to be sure.
Strong - fast - excellent endurance.  Can you make a house out of horse hair??  I think I am going to start a camel fan club!!!

I dont actually know what the rules are regarding that. I assume you would have to ask the guy about it before taking it. I dont think it would be a liability issue to let someone come get it? I see it advertised alot on craigslist and such. Saying firewood.. you come and chop it up.

Exactly - the ones Im thinking about are at least 2.5 - 3 feet in diameter.
They have already been bucked into 6-8 foot lengths - I'm wondering if you had a picker truck and a low boy if you could make some money at that??

You are a chaisaw kinda guy.

Theres a condo going in 2 blocks from me and they had to fall several large trees.

I look at the wood there and think "gad zooks" there's firewood for a year there.

I'm sure the developer would be happy if someone came and took it as he won't have to pay someone to cart it away but likely can't advertise as such due to liability concerns.  what are the rules regarding this?

Russ,  Yeah I'd really recomend it.  Not that any of us think about dying on a regular basis - but if you should find yourself in the grill of a mac truck one day ... it really is good if you have gone through a little pain and figured it all out and have it written down in legaleese.  It's pretty shocking what CAN happen if you don't have a will.  I know LM's grandmother was really pretty screwed for a bit because her grandfather did not have a will and the ownership of the family house was in question ... there is still some bittterness 30 years after his death,

BTW good call on the trucks and tools.

The guy that I would trust more than any other human being is in victoria ... he is the curator of the museum and a botanist and arguably the smartest guy I've ever met on a wide range of topics.  You can ask me questions on rocks and I'll know the answer.  Mushrooms - not so much.  Richard you can ask questions on rocks / plants / fossils / bugs / physics / etc ...and he will know.

First thing is to go through the mushroom book.  It may be really easy.  If you are really in doubt after giving it a good effort - don't eat them.

Second thing is to find a club or organization ... the good thing about your part of the world is that there are a lot of old people and some of them would know a pile of info on pretty much anything.  See if there is a mushroom club (I don't know - people would be surprised to know there are rock clubs)

Mushrooms.  Edible mushrooms.  

I'm asking, because we have these SUPER aggressive mushrooms that pop up overnight here.  Some are HUGE....and if they were in fact edible, I would love to dry them to use through the winter, because they are so abundant.  

I'm pretty freaked about identifying mushrooms from a pic, as some that are edible are extremely similar to one that might kill you if you even touched it.  But some people that KNOW mushrooms, might be able to identify by pics.  Let me know if this is something you could do, then I'll post a snapshot.

I don't know of any mushrooms that are lethal to touch. but read previous comment regarding edible vs poisonous.
