Title: Afraid of Heights ?
Post by: P.C. on Mar 01 09 05:38
Oh lord.....this truly makes me dizzy just looking at it.    I couldn't do this even if I was offered a million dollars.  Could you ?

That looks easy compared to this:

tv tower is north dakota, tallest structure in the world until that skyscraper in Dubai is finished.

It takes a great deal of effort for me to sit upstairs at the movies - without beating a retreat 15 minutes after my arrival.

sure - as long as there was no wind i'd be and i could rope up - carbiner to the rings ... ok.
if there was a wind - forget it - not for 100 mill

when i was a kid i was HORRIFIED of heights - now I'm ok - just hate windy days and heights combined.

 Ohhhhhhhhhhhh.

I think SD's is scarier. \

I don't want to die in north dakota.  If I'm going to plummet to my death i want to do it somewhere people have heard of. [a href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blanchard,_North_Dakota" title="Blanchard, North Dakota"]Not Blanchard, North Dakota[/a], halfway between Fargo and [a href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Forks,_North_Dakota" title="Grand Forks, North Dakota"]Grand Forks[/a]

You show any american 12th grader (outside of ND) a map of the world and ask him to point out Blanchard ND,  I would bet my mortgage that less than 1% could point it out. come to think of it my money would be pretty safe on the same bet for Fargo or Grand Forks

LOL.

We were one step ahead of a tornado, all the way from Billings, Montana to Fargo, ND....at which point, we checked into the hotel and they promptly gave us directions to the Safe Zone, and instructions on what to do when the tornado struck.  What ever happened to "welcome".

That's pretty much all I remember about Fargo, North Dakota.

You were probably praying - dear god don't let me die in Fargo - anywhere but Fargo ... nobody can point out Fargo on a map ...

I think about these things ...

once i was on this ridge in Northern BC - and i wasn't sure if i could go on or ... then an eagle soared BELOW me between some jagged peaks ... I stopped for a snack to collect myself - I tried to think of the most positive thing i could - it was nearly 3PM so I thought "If I fall my blood soaked crumpled body will only be on the rocks for a couple of hours before the helicopter comes for me - the animals won't even have time to scavenge me" was the best i could come up with.

I recall visiting a castle in Germany, following the crowd as they walked up a very narrow spiral staircase and not wondering why nobody was coming down it. Finding myself on the roof of the castle, and that the exit was about 20M away (down another spiral staircase) I crawled on my hands and knees to reach it and didn't give a hoot that  two dozen or so people were watchinng my antics.

The Romans built that.

Oh and in North Dakota its really windy.

When I go up in the arch its funny to tell people you're on top of the tallest monument in the world that isn't actually built together, rather just two pices of steel resting on each other. The final wedge piece wasn't bolted on the two sides of the arch. The two sides just fell into each other and created this force that melds together. So basically all that's holding you up is gravity. And the thing sways in the wind.

(//vny!://www.umsl.edu/%7Ewhmc/archscrub3.jpg)

630ft up nobody died building this thing.  When it was being built the security was lax and you could at night climb the insides, so I've been told.

I think i would prefer to be stuck in a glass eevator than a regular one.  I was stuck in an elevator once.
A guy i worked with was trying to scare his wife (also in elevator) by jumping up and down. then it stopped - we were there for an hour or two.  No big deal.
