I'm SO tired of hearing the daily minutia surrounding every single solitary detail over the blasted Olympics. I'm sad that I've gotten to this point....but I'm just over saturated with this stuff. Hiring an extra nurse instead of closing the health center over night.....heli-pad test....? This is news worthy ?Enough already !
It happened all of a sudden. I don't know if I can bear a WHOLE YEAR of this.....it's just too much.
Did you know that there's an Olympic countdown clock in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery?
That doesn't bother me as much as hearing it day in and day out. It's like it's the only thing that's happening.
That seems to be the only thing we're NOT hearing.
Well, that's the thing. I feel bad that I AM being a party pooper. A month ago, I was disappointed when I heard others complaining about it. It all just exceeded my limit I guess.
Well we're not hearing about it because there's this voting thing taking place on May 12.
You don't watch the news ?
Lately the news has been coming to me these days. CTV called yesterday about the ubc couple that was killed in the hit and run in Granville Island, we had the RCMP arrest people in a fight between Palestinian and Israeli supporters, and of course the Bacon Brothers or the UN gang or its one of those two anway, decided to put a hit on a guy at a grocery store I go to. lol So no need to watch it when its in the backyard.
Would that be a no ?
I felt a glimmer of excitement when VanOC got the bid, but I've been jaded since then.
Same here. I think that another year of this...and it will only accelerate....will be mass Olympic overload.
I'm astounded at how many people have forked out mega bucks for tickets.
I don't know anyone....yet.....but I'm sure there are plenty.
I saw the countdown on ctv, I'm already sick of it, my roommate was like 'why all the hate toward it' says he with a lot a cash.
I don't know if it's 'the countdown' specifically that's bugging me. It's the stories that cover things like....what screw they used to make the gondola...how many screws it took to make the gondola...what size screws they needed for the gondola....where the screws were made ................................................(//vny!://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Shocked/2.gif)
Have you ever read a media study demographics report? Its quite hilarious.
local news is fluff, people don't want hard hitting stuff, and if local news is your only news outlet source aka you don't watch national news either. You're uneducated news person.
Only people 65 and older watch the evening national news. So stories tend to be about getting old, some famous person dying, retirement savings, the commercials are all heart medication, tgwpd (although Michael Ignatieff gets a hard on with Russian translations of [a href="vny!://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20090209.WBwbureaublog20090209203735/WBStory/WBwbureaublog/"]Tolstoy's War and Peace[/a])
Usually people only watch cable news for more than 15mins at a time, so they recycle the same story over and over again.
-same applies to the weather channel and news/weather/traffic time
Morning News shows are only 'newsy' in the first 30mins as that's the time when most people are watching. They switch to women care at the next hour, because most people still watching at that time are women.
newspapers are written at a 4th grade reading level
- most people who buy newspapers nowadays are old people looking at the obits
- and if they're not old, its for the comics and the sudoko, crossword.
- when using a tabloid format, having nude girls on page 3 makes people actually want to read the entire paper as it gets people to open the paper and see page 2 with the table of contents before of course the topless girl.
